I just read that this morning as well. Rest up, big guy; I'll be needing you down the stretch!
I think you've got the right good idea by trying to ship Malkin as soon as possible, but realize that Iginla has some nagging injury issues as well. I think you can probably get more than Toews + Iggy for Malkin + Spezza. Good on you for getting rid of Spezza in the process!
As much as I am worried about Malkin's knee, there is a positive to take from what we've seen so far this season: when playing, Malkin is still productive - 1G, 3A, 8PIM in 3 games - so it seems that his knee is not a problem when on the ice. The current soreness and swelling he's experiencing is something that might go away as the season progresses or it may linger for awhile, I don't really know. But before you trade away Malkin, keep in mind that there is still a decent chance he'll be fine as the season progresses and if you're in a keeper league, then think about past this year.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
I think the big "comeback" from Geno will likely happen next season. The knee will be 100% and with all the new-found work habits there's no reason he won't dominate. This season we're likely going to deal with knee issues through the first couple months. That being said I could see him exploding in the second half as his knee will be stronger and Sid will be alongside him.
What do you guys think of this deal?
His Kane, Chara, Miller for my Malkin, Quick
Standard roto (not the team in my sig)
Any word on Malkin's availability for tomorrow?
I just picked up Neal and I'm debating whether to start him for the week.
According to http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11289/1182669-61.stm
"The Penguins have arrived in Winnipeg, but the team reports that center Evgeni Malkin and three other injured players did not make the two-game trip, which includes a game against the Jets on Monday and a game at Minnesota on Tuesday.
That means Malkin will miss the next two games because of recurring soreness in his surgically repaired right knee. He has missed three of the past four games.
The others who didn't travel are Sidney Crosby (concussion), Brooks Orpik (abdomen) and Dustin Jeffrey (knee). They have not played this season."
Missing those two games will give him 6 days off... if he's not better after that the outlook for this season is not good at all.
Thanks for the link fakeblood... hmm this makes starting Neal a tough decision.
I wish they'd just put his ass on the IR and give him a couple weeks off so I can pick up a replacement. This is brutal, absolutely brutal. I was looking forward to having 4 Pitts games this week now one of my marquis guys are out yet again.
