Dalpe won`t be that great this year in my opinion.
Way better rookie options... he might be 8th or 9th on the list and top out at 25-30 points. I hope he proves me wrong though.
Dalpe was practising on the 4th line with Tim Brent and Anthony Stewart tonight.
Quite the change from lining up next to Staal.

I would let the hype die down and try to acquire Dalpe before Christmas. He will work his way into the top 6 and produce by the end of the year. Carolina isn't exactly an offensive powerhouse.....

1st game, not much ice time so far. Looks similar to what he got last season. I really dont see the value in playing a guy like that on the 4th line for 6minutes. He'll need some injuries or Maurice finally getting fed up with Poni/Stewart/Tlusty, etc.
HaaHaaHaa, I am loving this. One game in and already Dalpe is getting thrown to the wolves. Have some patience, wow.

He hasn't really shown he deserves to play.
In 4 games, 0 hits, 3 SOG, 4 missed shots, and a turnover ratio of -2. You can say he needs to play in the top-6 to be productive, but I would contest that Larose, Stewart, Tlusty, and Ponikarovsky would all be more productive than Dalpe if they were given top-6 minutes.
The hype was completely misplaced IMO.

The stats comp vs other players on the team is essentially meaningless. Only top end talents can actually produce decent offensive #'s with 6:00 TOI on 4th line. Even a PPG player would be reduced to 27 pts/season by chopping TOI from 18:00 to 6:00. And thats with PP time. So comparing to anything else is not constructive.
The stats comp to players playing similar minutes (Stewart, Tlusty, Brent) are not good either. Tlusty leads the team in hits, with 9 SOG and a goal in 15 more minutes TOI. Stewart has a goal, more SOG than missed shots, a blocked shot, and a +1 turnover ratio in almost identical minutes. Brent is their 2nd best faceoff man.
My point is he's not doing the things needed (getting involved in the play) to earn more ice time. And I guess my overall point is that he's NOT a top end talent, the other support players on the Hurricanes would produce just as much with top-6 minutes as he would - he's not doing anything with limited minutes to prove otherwise.

He should be developed similar to how Ryan O'Reilly was in Colorado the past few years. O'Reilly got lots of PK time and played on the 3rd line. Same should be done with Dalpe, I think his two-way game is actually good from his appearances last year so give him 10-14 TOI per game on the third + PP.
Paul Maurice isn't the best coach with opportunities and young players, I'm surprised Skinner was able to get to where he did last year. I wouldn't worry about Dalpe but I dunno why he was picked as a calder winner at the same time when Landeskog, Schenn, RNH, and a few offensive dmen were around.
