It depends on the situation your team is in this year. If you're competing for a playoff spot, go Smith! If you're a few years away from competing go Bobrovsky. Smith might also fetch you better return in a trade especially if he starts the year hot.

I support that. You usually should go the trade value road and Smith is a sure fire start at the moment. Bryz isn´t the most injury prone goalie so Bob can be burried on the bench for ages. He is talented but he is not elite talented to offset Bryz. If you are looking for the next 2 season i´d go with Smith.

Same with me. Smith at least is a starting goalie heading into this season. If he gets hot then you can ponder about what to do with the situation. Bryz is signed for the next 9 seasons, so the only way that Bob will get a shot at the number one gig is if Bryz gets hurt.

And what Keys said is that Bryz isn't an injury prone candidate, so there's not a high chance of that happening.

    I'd go with Smith.

I believe that Bob will see around 25 starts this season. Most people may disagree as Bryz is usually a workhorse, but I think Philly is trying emulate the path the Bruins/Canucks took to get to the Final. You can read more about that here. Shameless plug I know.

Anyway, Smith is the starter in Pheonix but has never started more than 40-games in a season in his career due to a combination of poor play/injuries. Should he remain healthy, I still don't think he plays well enough to get into more than 50-55. I see him more as "bad starter on an average team".

Bryz is not injury prone so I wouldn't count on Bob actually taking over the starting role this season. I also don't think you'll see him moved unless he demands a trade. If you read the recent interview on Puck Daddy with him, you know this isn't going to happen.

Is this for the league in your sig? I see Bob but no Smith there.

Basically it all comes down to how many goalies you start and whether you start them weekly or daily. Also what other goalies do you already have. My answer will depend completely on those factors.

With the info that is a daily league this choice gets even more obvious. Smith will see more starts you want to win now. Smith is your guy.

Given that you already have Howard, Miller and Crawford; I think you can afford to go with the better goalie here is Bob. He won't get the number of starts that Smith will but he's more likely to put up better stats when he does start.

Think I am going to go with Smith. just a lot more certainty there. I can see Bob ending up in KHL or AHL in a year if he's not traded. Chances are he remains on wire anyway, where Smith being a sure starter would be gone since starting goalies are at a premium in my league. thanks for all the comments!

Calling Smith an average starter is mighty generous. He's posted .899 and .901 save percentages the last two seasons and he's never played more then 42 games in a season.

    I'd go with Bobrovsky.
