Default Who the hell am I picking for my 2nd goalie?

I've been lagging for another goalie. I have Niemi at the moment and I'm just looking for potential / possible bulk of starts. Pick a few for me ASAP!

My guess for guys who will get more than 25 starts in this list for sure or Dubnyk, Nabokov (as long as dipietro gets hurt, likely) and Theodore.

Ouch this is what's left and you need a 2nd goalie for your active roster eh? The guys I've bolded would be the ones I would expect to get the most starts this upcoming season from your list. NYI is always a goalie carousel, so owning a group of two from them is probably one way to get starts (i expect Nabby will get moved). As far as a singular pick I would guess Theodore has the most potential for starts, although he has not been posting any particularly mind blowing peripherals the last while either.

Theodore is the safest pick there if you're looking for most starts. If you are a gambler, go with DiPietro or Nabokov. If you are looking long term, maybe you go Montoya (and he could even start this year, since he was the starter most of the end of last season) or Dubnyk.

Sorry, Dubnyk and Theodore should be off that list.... im so screwed!

So I was thinking of grabbing backups and hope for a collapse of a starter (sorry Pavelec.....)

Montoya should get a chance right? Looking at his limited stats, they look great

Dubnyk is the Safest id say... followed by Thoedore...

DiPietro, Nabokov and Montoya depend upon each other...

Everyone else on that list depends on Injurys that we cant really predict if they want a bulk of games... as Backups they are as follows...

Karlssson is safe for 20ish starts
Enroth is suppose to lighten Millers load a bit so say 20 starts
Bishop/Elliott depend on who wins the job and are good for 10-15 starts
Nemi is not a massive game eater by any strech and past 3 years has started slowly, so Nitty can expect 20-25 starts, most early... but if Niemi gets injured, Stalock or Griess would likely steal starts from Nitty...
Lindback is good for 15 starts
    Current Roster:

F: H Sedin, Plekanec, Perry, Cammalleri, Oshie, Stepan, Anisimov, Kunitz, Justin Williams, Little, Baertchi, Huberdeau, Eberle, Rattie, Hoffman, Holland, Horvat, Dano, Dal Colle, Kerdiles

D: Boumeester, Green, Carlson, Del Zotto, Myers, Alzner, M Staal, Pouliot, Gormley, Mueller

G: Varlamov, Mrazek, Niemi, Vasilevski, Ramo, Hellebuyck

I'd go DiPietro. Sure there's a huge injury history but if he's healthy he'll start a million games.

Yeah that's a good point, he'll end up somewhere, but you still risk that he doesn't get moved for awhile since pretty much every team have their top 2 locked up, so he coudl be moved later in the year. Still, if you're a gambler, Nabby could be a good choice.

I should throw in that this is a salary cap league. Also just picked Marleau in the 12th rd (16 teams). He has a huge cap hit but the value is definitely there imo

Salary cap? Then I really think Nabby or Montoya are the best picks, DiP is way too expensive.

If anyone is interested, here is my team so far

This is my first salary cap league + theres a little catch where each GM picks two "franchise players" from their respective teams. I took over after the picks were already made so I ended up with Staal and Skinner. It's kinda disappointing because I think Ward would be more valuable than Skinner.

    Here's the draft list

Jose Theodore for me provides the best chance of hitting a home run pick of these options, plus you can pick up Clemmensen in a much much later round. Florida is not going to be as bad as many expect this year - despite picking up a bunch of TERRIBLE contracts the guys attached to them aren't actually too bad of players. I don't expect them to grab a playoff spot but I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't at least in the race. Florida tandem for me!

Montoya, he's destined to take over as the number one once DiPietro injures himself. If you want more of a sure thing take Devan Dubnyk. The rest are clear backups and Theodore might be outplayed by Clemmensen, you never know with him.
