    Default Halak Vs Quick Vs Rask

    Curious as to where people would tier these guys. 1 year and 3 year.

    (I know Rask losses big time in a 1 year, curious if there is a difference at 3 years?)

    Points league
    W=2
    SO =5
    OTW =1
    OTL =1 (these OT points were to try to mimic the old ties)

    Saves = .05
    Goal Against = -.5 (these 2 mimic save percentage in a points league).

    I see Halak and Quick as tier 2 on the verge of 1 at 1 and 3 years....
    I see Rask as a backup year 1, tier 1 in 3 years....

    (Man crush on Rask?)

    thanks,
    Plug.

    1 year - Quick, Halak, Rask - think that Halak could go all world and overtake Quick but odds aren't there - Thomas could get injured and Rask could overtake them both.

    3 year - goalies are too unpredictable but I think Quick is already a Tier 1 and don't see why he wouldn't remain so. I think Halak could easily rise to Tier 1 with that Blues team coming together. Rask as a starter for the Bruins in 3 years should be Tier 1 because he has already demonstrated his ability to be in that zone - dependent on Thomas giving it up some time in the next few years (Roloson effect has me wondering).

    I think everyone is in agreement for a one year outlook. Like shoeless said *unless Thomas suffers an injury he will* take the large chunk of the workload again. Wendelclark17 was the first guy that pointed out to me too that Rask is an RFA at the end of next season so it wouldn't make much sense to play him more to pay him more.

    As for 3 years I think it's tough. I think I'll also put Rask at #1, but I find ranking the other two difficult. While I believe that St.Louis is a team that is very much on the rise LA acquiring Richards was huge IMO. I think I'll go with Halak then Quick (like the others), but that is mainly due to the unknown of Bernier.

    I think Quick is #1 to stay in LA. The Kings are too close now to switch to Bernier, and Quick has been very good. Quick number 1 for sure.

    It is a toss-up from there. Bruins are a great team, and Rask will surely be #1 someday, but not this year. Halak will only get more and more used to being a workhorse, and the Blues are improving.

    One year and three (close on the 3 year):
    Quick
    Halak
    Rask

    Nashville is always competitive and Rinne is awesome.

    Among the other 3 I'd have Quick first. As long as he's the #1 in LA he's a top tier goalie, but there is a bit of risk there with such a talented stock of young goalies in L.A

    I'm not sold on Rask being a tier 1 in 3 years. He hasn't played enough and won't until 3 years from now for us to really see this. I think Quick has the stuff to be a tier 1 and I also think Bernier does. So we'll see how that situation plays out. I think Halak could become one especially if the team gets a little better around him, which I think they are.
