Bryzgalov (if he signs in Philly) if not he may be the best one anyway long term
Thomas - great peripherals, good team but is old and tough competition for starts. - Better than than the rest listed short term but would be selling high for Halak/Ward ++ in a dynasty.
Halak - had poor peripherals last year but coul have been tired from overwork, young improving team
Ward - good peripherals, young improving team but tendency to blow up
Fleury - wins but poor peripherals, name recognition is greater than his value

sorry rook... and while I wish that was true as a Bryz owner... here's the way:

    1. Ward - STUD...so much so that if Carolina becomes a playoff team, he'll win 44 games
    2. Thomas - STUD... but yer right, so the only thing that knocks him back a peg is the loss of starts to keep him fresh...and they have no fear letting Rask snag a few more games than your standard back-up
    3. Bryzgalov - Maybe more valuable on another team than Philly... I think they have to make Bob the back-up so they don't lose him to waivers, and they'll waste the kid if he doesn't get at least 25 starts... one (I) can only hope the contract is so huge that they have to start Bryz on principal alone.
    4. Fleury - Not a STUD... STUD team though with Geno and the Kid returning, an emerging Blue Chip Blueliner in Letang, and Neal will be a perfect compliment for the two big guns.
    5. Halak - Everyone says that team will be breaking out any second now... I'm still waiting to see. If they do, I can see Halak leaping here, but I'm not betting on it yet.

I made a spreadsheet. Based on last year's statistics:
    (10 represents top score in all four categories: 40W, 10SO, 2.00GAA, .940SV%)

    #2) 8.59 Tim Thomas.
    #5) 7.25 Ilya Bryzgalov.
    #7) 6.80 Cam Ward.
    #12) 5.97 MA Fleury.
    #15) 5.51 Jaroslav Halak.

I'd say that is a very close ranking to how they should actually go.

Personally, I would remove Thomas because nobody really knows which direction Boston wants to go and Thomas is 37 years old. St.Louis plays in a very competitive division and their defense isn't terrific... yet... so Halak has to stay last for now.

Ward vs. Fleury is VERY close.
If we remove Fleury's AWFUL first two months of the season and put Crosby/Malkin on PIT for a full year, he should beat Ward. And don't forget that PIT upgraded their D tremendously with Martin & Z.
It was going to take Fleury a while to learn what type of shots those guys typically allow & from what angles, etc.

    1. Bryz (*assuming he doesn't end up in the KHL)
    2a. Fleury
    2b. Ward
    4. Halak
NR. Thomas (too old in a keeper league to consider over these guys)
