Awesome. Phoenix is ready if we start today.
IIWE ARE READY TO START DRAFTING
I am not opposed to people starting the Mock Draft earlier than Monday if your pick is ready and you are "on the clock" but I will not officially make people pick until Monday (as I initially promised)
Rules/Points to Consider:
- Selection times are from 8am- 12am (midnight) EST starting Monday, June 13th (or sooner if you wish)
- Each team has a maximum time limit of 3 hours to make their selection from the time the previous pick is submitted. I would prefer if we didn't use this long
- Please NOTIFY (via PM, email, tweet, etc.) the team selecting after you once you have submitted your pick. It will speed things up.
If MIN or DAL are the teams after you, simply PM me and I will make the contact Patrick or Kelly
- Lastly, please be as creative in your selections as you want and it would be nice if you submitted a quick statement of why you chose the player you did.
Thanks and Have Fun
- PM me or GMGates if there are any issues

Awesome. Phoenix is ready if we start today.
Excelsior~ Ever Higher
Dear Mr. Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything, take us out of this gloom
Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy~ Traffic
I think the EDM Tandem already knows who we're taking but I'll PM donions for confirmation.
COL has already PM'd me his pick.
Again, there is no rush to get started but you can if you wish.
Post the Pick right here on the board.
Follow the following format just so we know that it's official:
"The (INSERT NHL TEAM NAME) are proud to select (insert player name) from (insert organization) of the (insert league)"
You can adjust it to be creative but something along those lines would be perfect.
I'm putting a picture with my picks.
Cool I'll get the pick up in the next bit. Should we somehow make this thread or another thread selections only so there's no random chatter inbetween picks for people scrolling through? I'm sure many people will post reasoning behind their picks so it might be annoying for those to scroll through 3-4 posts of conversation inbetween each pick no?
Maybe a discussion thread and a pick thread like the All-Star draft you guys did? Just a thought.
The Edmonton Oilers are proud to select, with their second consecutive first overall pick, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins from the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL.
2010-11 Stats:
GP G A P PIM
69 31 75 106 51
Dyz's Rationale: The Edmonton Oilers organization has glaring holes in several positions - C, D, G. Coming up the pipeline they have Marincin, Petry, Chorney, and others at D, Roy, Bunz, and Dubnyk at G. However, at Center they have virtually no one and not a single one of them has first line upside, thus a top line center is not only their biggest need, but also one of the hardest positions to fill. RNH has surged up the draft rankings and for good reason - he posted 106 points in 69 games while astounding scouts and fans alike with his phenomenal hockey IQ and what some describe as his "Gretzky-esque playmaking ability." The Oilers organization has a stable of young promising wingers including Magnus Paajarvi, Linus Omark, Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, Teemu Hartikainen, Toni Rajala and they need a true number once center to anchor them. The biggest knock on RNH has been his size and the possibility of him needing to return to juniors. However, he has used the off-season to put on weight and has already bulked up to 173 pounds and expects to add another five by the start of the season, meaning he'll weigh just shy of 180 which makes it very likely we'll see him donning an Oilers logo next season.
Donions Rationale: He's been the next big thing in Western Canadian Hockey for the last 4 years. Leading his minor hockey teams to provincial championships and gold medals, along with a couple MVP and player of the year awards. When the Red Deer Rebels were awarded the 1st overall pick in the 08 draft there was zero doubt as to who they were selecting, and he hasn't disappointed since then. Even as a small 15 year old he opened his WHL career with a bang scoring in his first game. Since then he's dominated the WHL, capturing rookie of the year honors in his 1st full season and eclipsing 100pts in his 2nd Leading one scout to say he's the best WHL player since Mike Modano. His 59 powerplay points this season will certainly be attractive as the Oilers powerplay has been dismal. The Oilers will make him the 1st WHL forward selected #1 overall since Mr. Modano.
Quotes about RNH:
NHL Central Scouting's Peter Sullivan: “A couple of people high up -- and not naming names -- said Hopkins has the best vision since No. 99 (Wayne Gretzky). That's the highest compliment you can get. But the other thing is the way he competes. He never takes a night off and he works as hard in his own end as he does in the offensive zone and that takes a special player with a special set of skills to do that."

Good summary Dyz. I have COL's first selection but I will wait to see if he makes it as Veritas0Aequitas might want to add a brief message as to why he chose the player.
Again, no rush gentlemen. The 3 hour clock won't be enforced until Monday

"The Colorado Avalanche are proud to select Gabriel Landeskog from the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL"
Avs need a power winger replacement for Stewart and I believe Landeskog will be twice the player Stewart is. More consistent on a game to game basis and more of a leader which is also something the Avs are in desperate need of.
