Howard is established as the workhorse in Detroit. That alone makes him a keeper IMO.
Having trouble deciding who to keep, since I'm limited to keeping only 7 players. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
Cats:
Goal = 3, Assist = 2, 2PIM = 0.5, +/- = 0.5, PPG = 1, SHG = 2

C = Skinner, Pavelski, Zetterberg (dual), Lecavalier

Niemi is the superior goaltender compared to Howard. Keep Niemi.
Clearly Niemi-He led the Hawks to the Cup.
He's brought the Sharks to greatness.
Will he win two consecutive Cups?
Don't bet against him...Book It!
I edge towards Howard. I also understand the question, as Niemi has certainly done a fine job on the second half of the season. One doesn't feel quite the same way about Howard. Early this year was tumultuous for Niemi. New team, new town, a lot of head space stuff for him to go through. Inconsistent play...
Both are fine clubs.
Both tenders are signed in SJ through next season, so a repeat of the duo is to be anticipated.
Neither team has much cap room for next year. San Jose is right against the cap.
Detroit, does have to add a tender though, and could target someone if they really wanted. The Nabby situation earlier this year demonstrates that it is on the Wings mind. Should a guy like Nabby show up in Detroit next year, perhaps Howard would continue to get 55 starts. Perhaps 50/50. I would be surprised to see a Nabby type displace Howard as the major starter.
Detroit has an insane level of loyalty.
There is a small chance that a Bryz or Vokoun type ends up in Detroit, either on a long term deal or a short term cap friendly contract, designed to give the player the opportunity to win a Stanley.
Pick your poison!
Based on your points system you need to keep both goalies. Each of them have outscored Corey Perry (arguably the best forward this season) by 50 points or MORE!! Even a monster season by a forward wont get you the points of an average goalie with 35-40 wins.
Here is my math, based on 4/7 stats:
Howard: 345 points
Neimi: 356 points
Perry: 296 ponts
If my calculator is bad, let me know!!

I agree that it would be a good idea to keep both goalies. If you choose to keep one of the two goalies, I'd keep Niemi. Who knows what may happen with Howard moving forward? I think Osgood is done so Detroit will be signing a UFA goalie this off-season (like they already tried to do with Nabakov). What happens if someone like Vokoun decides to sign with Detroit in the off-season?
I think Niemi's the better goalie and he's in the more stable position of the two. Both the Sharks and Wings are great teams so both goalies will get their wins, I just see more potential downside on the Howard side of the ledger.

I agree you should keep both.
If you could only keep 1 in a keeper league I'd take J-Ho. Detroit has an amazingly stable environment and a stellar track record for developing young players and keeping them around for the long run.
