Before the preseason I’d have said like 10%. But with Theodore and Schmidt our he’s playing himself into the conversation more and more. He’s waivers exempt of course, so they can send him down at any time, but from what I’m hearing he’s really been impressing the coach and management. It’s a long shot, but if the Knights start the year with Brannstrom on PP1 Theodore might find himself on the outside looking in.

One would have to think the Knights should be serious buyers this weekend, no? I am surprised names like Duchene aren't mentioned as possible additions. SO close last year, no reason they can't go on another impressive run.

Strong effort from Halak tonight. Absolute robbery on a few chances.

Vegas has signed one of this year's Top NCAA free agents in Jimmy Schuldt this morning. Accolades from this season include

    NCAA (NCHC) Best Defensive Defenseman
NCAA (NCHC) Best Offensive Defenseman (Nominated)
    NCAA (NCHC) First All-Star Team
NCAA (NCHC) Player of the Year
NCAA (NCHC) Reg. Season Champion (Penrose Cup)
NCAA Top Collegiate Player (Hobey Baker Award) Finalist

He was the Captain of St. Cloud University for the past 3 years and has been considered a great character player. He may prove to be useful in deep multi-cat leagues as he's a player who hits, blocks, shoots, and prides himself on keeping a positive +/-.

He could turn out to be not much of anything but I could see Gallant warming to him and bumping him in front of McNabb and Merill at the bottom of Vegas' D. Also, his next contract should be pretty cheap and Vegas might need the cap space.

Only 7 defensemen have won the award since 1981 so it wouldn't surprise me if this were the first time it has happened.

Clarkson asked to submit his 10tm no trade list.

It's a year end formality. He has 1yr left at 5.25m. I imagine, he'll waive for any team that acquires him. And I doubt he leaves his house

His salary is covered by insurance - so moving him is purely a cap floor move for the team acquiring him.
seems irrelevant to move him as his 5.25m hit goes on LTIR at the start of the season anyway.

If you can get something for nothing, why not?
    Very doubtful though.

Might make sense for Ottawa if they need to reach the cap floor, but also don't see Melnyk being ok with paying for a player who is not playing.

    Clarkson for future considerations lol

Any guesses on lines next season?

Wondering if we could see stone and Karlsson together? I know stone and Stastny did well down the stretch but gotta think smith isn’t a top line guy anymore and stone can move up to bring Karlsson back to the 80 ish point player and not the 50s we saw let season

I don't know that much about Gusev but isn'h he probably a 3th liner in the NHL? Maybe can slot in on a second line for a team with not much depth. Vegas is a pretty deep team at forward. Maybe they can try him on the second line(if they sign him) but Im not sure at all that he will be capable of staying on the second line for the majority of the season.

He was the MVP of the KHL last season, and he's got three straight seasons of well over a point-per-game in the KHL. He's without a doubt a top-six talent. He's already better and more accomplished than a lot of the players who currently reside in an NHL top-six. The KHL is a pretty low scoring league, and he's got 215 points over the last 173 games. That's incredible production, and there's no reason to believe he couldn't step right into an NHL top-six and be productive right away.

I don't buy the whole "hes a top player in the KHL so hes should be a top player in the NHL.".

Go look at the top scorers in the KHL last year (and further back) and you'll recognize a lot of names of players that were flops in the NHL.
