Default I can't stop benching shutouts!

It's like a disease that you have no control over. I keep benching every shutout that happens. Here's a list of what I have benched over the past 14 days (I have 7 teams on Yahoo):

    23 February Bobrovsky vs SJ
23 February Lehner vs VAN (icing on the cake: I benched these two together on a Roto team that desperately needed SO. Started Schneider instead)
23 February Bobrovsky vs SJ on a 2nd team
23 February Bobrovsky vs SJ on a 3rd team
23 February Bobrovsky vs SJ on a 4th team
23 February Grubauer vs NSH (also Bob + Grubauer on same team)
    23 February McElhinney vs DAL
    19 February Miller vs MIN
    17 February Binnington vs MIN
    16 February Kuemper vs TOR
16 February Kuemper vs TOR on a 2nd team
16 February Kuemper vs TOR on a 3rd team
    16 February Vasilevsky vs MTL

May I present: the biggest idiot in the history of fantasy sports.

They're just so random. The only thing I'd change is as a general rule never bench Vas. You only did that once and I don't have the full story behind it.

Don't beat yourself up too bad...these things can turn themselves around and balance out over a week or two. You'll probably get a bunch during playoffs (hopefully!)

    C. McDavid, N. Kucherov, R. O'Reilly, J. Schwartz, J. Toews, J. Huberdeau, T. Toffoli, M. Granlund

It depends on who your other starters are that is making you sit these guys. That being said, you NEVER sit Vasilevskiy so yes, that was a pretty dumb one.

Okay okay, I admit I was leading every goalie category on that team and he had no starts left, that's why I did it

I also benched Bobrovsky for that game but he was playing the 2nd game on back to back nights, I didn't like the match up. So you're not the only one!

I feel your pain, I've been switching Bishop & Hutton and screwing that up every time, missed both of Hutton's great last two performances, started him last night and got negative points. You just never know.

I’ve had the same problem in a couple leagues recently but not nearly as bad as this. Unfortunately for me, my mistake of benching some really good goalie starts may end up costing me a playoff spot in one league.

I can understand your reasoning for sitting Vas. But why would you start Schneider instead of Lehner and Bob? Schneider could be playing Ott at home and the others TB on the road and I'd still play the others I gues...?

    1.I'm a moron
2.I was afraid of the Sharks' offense, especially on a B2B
3.Schneider was semi-hot at that point, Lehner semi-cold (or maybe I thought Greiss would start; living in Europe, the earliest games usually start at 1am for me, so I don't always know the confirmed starter)

One thing I'm starting to learn is always take a chance on goalies... the payout can be huge and if you look at stats, goalies playing vs top 8 teams in standings, they don't seem to get blown out that much more if playing bottom 8 teams. Unless I'm playing TB I don't even consider benching a goalie...I m not saying this is the right move but I didn't draft goalies to ride the pine because more often then not they pull in points

Other people have addictions like smoking or chewing their nails. I bench shutouts (or great performances).

(Okay, in my defense I was leading all goalie stats and he had no starts left on Sunday. But still.)

"This may sound simple, but what about adopting the strategy of OVERWHELMING GOALIE FORCE - just keep throwing goalies at each open spot. If you have to make a decision between two goalies - bet on the player, rather than the match-up." - signed: A reformed GM who has given up trying to outsmart goalies.
