    Default Jordan Binnington

Before the start of the season, everyone was saying Husso was the goalie of the future for the Blues. So far, he’s not having a great season but Binnington have been pretty impressive and is now with the big club. With Allen being Allen, can he be a late bloomer and steal his net for the rest of the season?

I'm not sure I'd call Binnington a late bloomer, goalies often take the longest, and have odd paths to starting.

Binnington looked very good against the Flyers, of course, that is normal for a shutout, and the Flyers are sadly very erratic. Allen is only a stalwart in net in the eyes of Blues management, and while that counts a lot, he's really just an average NHL goalie, which is no impediment to somebody stealing the net. It's possible.

Husso could still be the goalie of the future but this isnt the future, this is today and today Husso isn't ready. He could still be a couple years out. We don't know.

Binnington has earned the call up and is playing well in the couple games he's had. As long as he keeps playing this well, he'll keep playing. That being said, Allen has also found a way to turn his game around lately. Right now I can see both guys seeing a regular rotation.

I'm fortunate enough to have rostered JB's last two starts in a couple leagues...
But PHI & MON... meh, not exactly powerhouse offensive teams right now.
[I actually rostered Binnington against PHI because I thought it was a strong win% game for STL.]

He does have a .926sv% over his last two partial AHL seasons (44gp) - and that IS pretty solid.
But I still think Husso is future of STL (and Allen too, short term), who has been solid over last 2 months.

Pushing Binnington to the NHL, I believe, was more about getting Husso the majority of the team's AHL starts - so as to further his development.

Goalies are impossible to read when they are sort of good+ AHL level but never supremely hyped.
Some pan out, some do not.
And many do really well in the "no pressure" "just the back-up" roster spot.
Then, when they get the chance to be the "counted-on 1A" goalie.

Seems like Husso hasn't even been starting at all since Binnington's been up. It's been all Coreau as far as I can see. What gives?

Guy wants McDonagh for him. Which he’s sitting as my 4th Defenseman.

I’m rolling with Duybnk, Talbot, Mike Smith as my goalies right now

I'd do that deal, finding a 4th D would be fairly easy compared to hoping that set of goalies gets going.

Just looking to reopen the discussion a bit.
Binnington is up to 19-4-1 record with a 1.79 GAA and .929 SV%
Is he pulling an Andrew Hammond or do people think he has a legitimate chance to carry this forward into future years?

Honestly I traded him for E. Bouchard when he was 5-6 games in...thought I was being sneaky with a FA pick up...starting to think he's legit and I'm gonna regret that trade in a year or two.

Legitimate chance. Especially since Allen isn't actually good, the Blues just refuse to realize it. However, like Ottawa with Anderson, Allen has the contract.

Honestly, Hammond really never had a bad season with any significant amount of starts in Ottawa. He was basically an average NHL goalie in his second year with a decent number of starts backing up Anderson, check it out:
