A couple of thoughts i have on this deal. In the past 2 years and this half year, Josi is the averaged 7th ranked D-man and 37 OA. For Benn in that same span, is the 22nd ranked forward and 32 OA. I feel like i should get more for Benn, but am i being naive, thinking i should get more when this is about what he can net me(at least for d-men)
In all reality, does this seem like a lateral move or does it help or hurt me?

I think you have the LW depth, and need the D depth that this trade makes sense. However, since the GM went back on his "verbal offer" last time, I'd make him pay a little extra to make this lean in your favour. Get him to add picks/prospects at the very minimum.

I think it helps you, because Josi is only 5 spots overall behind Benn, but is a defender. You start twice as many defenders, and currently have no spare for off nights.Originally Posted by Nobody0211

It's a no for me.
There IS league formats where Josi's value > Benn's value...
But not in a 9F/4D format.
That's very shallow D rostering.
If it was 9F/6D, then the high-end D would have more "relative value" and Josi would thump up.
In EITHER league, Josi is the #7D (say)... but his value is (relatively) higher in a 6D league than in a 4D league.
It's actually a big difference (and hard to understand).
But still Benn for me in 9F/4D format.
Personally, in this league, I'm rostering about 8 high end forwards, 1 high end D, then spot filling D2/D3/D4 with high HIT/BLK D-men or those with good scheduling.
H2H is all about pure-stat-volume... which can sometimes be done just by cycling 4gp/week players.

I’d counter with a Benn for Josi + offer. If he doesn’t like it, keep Benn. If he really wants Benn, he’ll come back.
