Would he still be wing eligible in most leagues? I know he is listed as LW on CBS.

Probably next season at least. Most people don't follow Carolina at all, and that includes fantasy hockey sites as well.

And Daily Faceoff. They still have him at LW on both ES and PP1.

The only thing that hurts his value is the emergence of Kuzy who will primarily play with Ovi going forward but he still gets the PP1 time.
I agree with this. Backstrom plays a style of hockey that ages well. He won't be falling off a cliff any time soon, and will be good for 70+ for many years to come, with upside of 80-90 in any given year. If you're competing for a championship I don't know why you would trade that for a riskier floor and similar upside (or arguably lesser in the case of some of the players mentioned) just to get younger. Also, lines change all the time. Backstrom may or may not play with OV 5 on 5 in the future, but we can guarantee he'll be an integral part of the Caps offence in all situations, which is good enough for me.

    Agreed.

That's why I'm not too hard pressed to move him, but I do also want to entertain some offers and shop him around a bit and see what comes back.
I also benefit from the fact that I also own Kuznetsov.

I'm not particularly looking to get younger, but with Barzal having to move up to my keepers next year I'll be forced to move one of my potential 9 and the return may be less then it would be now.

I guess the two scenarios I see is I swap him for an almost equally valued winger or I move him for a younger up and coming stud with some picks to re-stock my cupboards.
If I don't find either of those I'll hold Backstrom and reap the inevitable rewards.

In a keep 9 I'd be looking to package two keepers for a clear cut upgrade. Failing that Duchene would be the guy I'd look to move.

    Thanks for the input all.

Sent out offers of Backstrom for Marchand or Tarasenko or Kane.

After sleeping on it and digesting your feedback I think it makes more sense to get equal production return than an up and coming player.

Nylander may be available in my league, but is a 1 for 1 there even?

I feel like Backstrom holds more value, but I may be biased.

I guess it's close considering age difference.

Was actually looking at Marner today also, but he may be less attainable.
well to obtain younger player you got to take a small hit on current value, if you looking to get younger and better for the future but at the same time win the trade in the present you need a dumb trading partner or it wont work

i think Nylander is pretty good deal, you may be able to ask for a pick with him but thats it imo..Connor to me would hold similar value to Nylander, i woudl not touch Debricant in this deal i just dont think he is in same tire for me..

Other names would be Point, Keller, Marner

Younger Players are overrated I won this year handily but acquiring the oldest superstars I could get my greasy mitts on. Were playing to win every year aren't we?

    Agreed.

I picked up Vanek, the Sedins and Jeff Carter at the deadline for minimal cost and it pushed me to the finals.

    Update:

Traded my Backstrom and Yamamoto for Tarasenko and a 2019 2nd Round Propsect pick (11-20 Overall Range)

For context I drafted Yammaoto in the 2nd round (13 OA)
