NHL Mock Draft 2021-2022 - Discussion

Those aren't players who necessarily should have been picked. They're what I put together as a team with what was left for fun. Reimer is the handcuff for Hill to ensure the team gets starts.

Khudobin was my thought, if I’d gone with a third goalie. Backlund, Niederreitter and Craig Smith were in my list but I decided to go more hits heavy.

Bailey and Kapanen stick out as probably should have been picked. This mock really doesn’t lend itself to deep goalie groups. That’s why I think it was probably not a great representation of value there for more conventional leagues. It’s been great fun doing this and I look forward to letting it ride and seeing how it all shakes out. Thanks again Pete and PH for doing this!

I skipped over players that seem to get banged up that tend to miss 10+ games a year . I'd assume that was a factor in some players not getting picked.

This was very fun and I agree it doesn't lend well when it comes to drafting goalies because of the format.

Can't wait to see how it goes.

With no moves I sort of understand why Khudobin wasn't picked. That's a really annoying crease situation. Worthy of a diceroll but maybe not in a no moves league where you can't swap him for Oettenger or whoever if things go south.

I think if there were moves someone may have taken Carter at the end. With Malkin out for a while he has a chance to play big minutes and probably good pp opportunities. I thought about it but I don't trust him all season long.

Hey guys, I finally finished my own player projections for this season and I inputed the results of our mock drafts into it just for fun.

I don't project PIMs so that's a category that's missing.

I liked tweetdrivr strategy of going boom or bust but considering my projections are usually conservative, he doesn't show well here. Could make me look quite dumb at the end of the year.

The AlsoRans do look like also rans but do pick up some points in goalie cats by picking up 4 goalies instead of 3 like most did.

Lord of the Rinks with the most balanced teams surges to the top with a comfortable margin.

Any thoughts from you guys?

Haven't really looked at the teams, but during the I was leaning towards liking Duntroon68's team the most.

LOL - thanks for the 'kiss of death'. I generally pick players based on value and balance across cats for roto. We'll see how it actually plays out. This was a really fun draft!

No problem... I will make sure to do the same in RHRS this year and see if it works! I highly doubt it will work in my favour though

To be fair, you were well ahead after I was done with the skaters, its the goalies that brought you down to the pack. I've rarely been excellent projecting goalies so your team may be even stronger than you thought.

Yes, I took some big risks with Hart and Knight... but here's hoping!!
