    1) Ask Marleau to waive NMC ?
    2) Trade Zaitsev asap ?
    3) Sign Johnsson and Kapanen or trade one for a D ?
    4) Try to bring back Hainsey, since Babcock loves him so much ?
    5) Try to deal Kadri ?

    1) Yes, and dangle him with a 1st round pick to anyone for a 3rd or 4th.
    2) Yes, this is the biggest no brainer of the Leafs offseason.
    3) Depends on what they are asking for. But they need to replace 3D and Moore is clearly worthy of a promotion to the top 6.
    4) Probably, but this would be a big mistake.
    5) Yes, there would be a good market for him , good player at a good salary and the alternative is trying to move Nylander who is way more expensive and not a true centre.

lets forget what Lou would do since

    1. He signed PM 1yr too long & for too much
    2. He's the bozo that locked Z in this long.

    What should Dubas do?
    2. trade Z
    3. sign both - trade Nylander for D.
    4. Bring back Hainsey 1yr if cap is cheap
    5. Keep Kadri - he's on a value contract.

I think it's a little unfair to call Lou a "bozo" since he's also the guy who locked up Rielly and Kadri on very team-friendly deals.
He traded for Andersen and promptly locked him up to a team-friendly deal too.
Just a couple huge examples of excellent management.

Sure, Marleau and Zaitsev were mistakes but that hardly makes Lou a bozo. He accomplished a lot in his short time with the Leafs.

Call him what you want, but it's those two deals that are creating the cap crunch of this summer. The good moves are good, but the bad ones are the ones stinging

Well, I'll call him a GM who made many good moves and a few bad ones.
But the cap crunch was happening regardless. That's inevitable when a team has good players.

Saw this on twitter and thought it would be fun:

    Most Overrated: Babcock
    Most Underrated: Hymen
    Best Player: Matthews
Key New Addition: A tough stay at home penalty killing expert to replace Hainsey... Methot maybe ? Depends on his knee I guess
    Could Surprise: Bracco
    Takes a Leap: Rosen
    Prove it Year: Babcock

    Most Underrated: Johnsson
    Best Player: Marner
Key New Addition: Top 4 Dman that brings an edge & good in own zone - Another Muzzin

New special teams coach next year? Just read in Friedmans 30 thoughts that Hillen isn't expected back and Im pretty sure he was in charge of the special teams

I think it was Smith running the PK, which begs the question... why is he perceived to be such a superstar? I don't understand how some of these guys get to be in such demand.
I hear he's a terrific "players coach" but the results need to be solid too.

Ultimate it falls on Babcock anyway. If he delegates the PK to Smith and the unit is struggling, it's up to Babcock to step in and inject some possible solutions.

If it included PK then it can't be a bad thing

Hopefully, Leafs fans like having Shanny around for a long time. Extended today through 2024-25

Contract extensions really don't mean anything, especially for a team with a lot of cash.

Although this is entirely Monday morning quarterback, I think it's reasonable for one to opine that Shanahan rushed the transition to Dubas.
In particular, I think Lou would have handled the Matthews and Nylander contracts better. Dubas is showing a little more green than most are willing to admit.
