I think its one of those cases where both teams benefit
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

I think everyone who spent any time watching Cory Schneider this past season saw that he was "off" his game. No surprise to read the news that he had hip surgery and will be on the heal for 5 months.
    Best of luck to him

Sorry if this was talked about elsewhere but figured I'd bring it up. It's read that the devils pp coach and assistant coach ward recently left and went over to Calgary in a similar role. Success rate do Devils power play was 21.4%, 10th in the league. This can hurt the devils and help Calgary who had a terrible success rate last year.

The article goes further though to point negatives about the system used mainly that they converted goals but shots and chances weren't all that great and that the devils could use the chhange to even further improve.

    Just found it interesting

Any Devils fans have any input regarding Brett Seney? Corey Pronman at the Athletic released his article about the Devils' prospect system and nearly half the comments left so far are admonishing him for leaving Seney out of the article. A couple of fans expect him to push for a spot in training camp. On an amateur tryout with in Binghamton at the tail end of last season he had eight points (three goals) over the twelve games he played in with 16 penalty minutes to boot. He's listed 5?9?-170 lbs. so he's a feisty little bugger. What say you people?

If Devils fans are pushing hard for Seney it likely comes from them seeing Jesper Bratt make the team out of nowhere and thinking it can happen with the next young guy in line. Of course it might happen. I'm not counting on it.

Note: I'm not a Devils fan so I hope it's ok for me to comment here...

It's not but I'll forgive you this time. You're also probably entirely right about the Devils' fans wishful thinking. One of the comments specifically called him "this year's Bratt." Thanks for the input.

So devils are back tonight witha split squad. Games against rangers and Montreal

Of note here are the top lines for each squad:

    Hall-nico-bratt
    Johansson-zacha-palmeri

Looks like this is the combo they hope to roll out this year. If it works that's great as this can create two lines of threat

Palmieri should be fine as he is one of their main triggermen on the PP

Jesper Bratt broke his jaw at practice in Sweden yesterday and will likely be out 2-4 weeks if not more. In response the Devils signed Drew Stafford to a one-year deal.

The last game against Washington they looked great

Overall they looked great. More of the same of what you saw in games 1 and 2. They definitely had some lapses in play but overall it was another strong game against a tough opponent.
    My takeaways:

Once again the puck is finding Nico. If he starts burying them, look out
Vatanen looked great, which is so nice to see
Kinkaid certainly looks like our starting goalie-- as a Schneider owner that concerns me fantasy-wise, but Kinkaid made some huge saves yet again
Quenneville and Dea look like perfect fits in our bottom six-- speed, energy, and enough skill to produce
Miles Wood will have a breakout season

    Go Devils!

Glad to read that Scheider's hip surgery was not too serious and that he is on the path to good health.

I think he is a serious sleeper for next season

Been awhile since last posting. Sorry will try more to keep up with it.

Sounding like hall will miss today’s game but who knows for sure
Blackwood update: he was left in the minors right now supposedly so he can play in the ahl all star game. Johnson was called up to backup Kinkaid. Will keep an eye on this as most are holding there breaths
