I got think we move a winger, that's one area where we have plenty. I am not sure how we get that done though.

The Canucks put themselves in this predicament. Will be interesting to see how they get out. But lets get a few more middle 6 wingers, just in case.

Well, the deal for DeSmith should help both them & Montreal.

Yup came right on cue. I think now Myers stays put, which honestly isn't a bad thing. He's not a 1 or 2, heck even a 3 but he's a NHL caliber D that will help us if were pushing for a playoff spot. If were clearly out of it at trade deadline then we should be able to flip him for an asset.

Honestly Canucks have made some good conservative moves this offseason. Nothing to drastic.

yup, it was good move for both the nucks and Pearson.

Soucy looked good last night, a totally revamped D means a possible improvement on the PK where the nucks absolutely sucked last year, if they can improve the PK .......

I was at the game and yes he did. Also DeSmith was solid. If he can provide stability as a back up that could be big as well.

    They're not a playoff team.
It's good they didn't make a splash in FA - for that reason.
they are not deep enough to push the top teams in that division.

Myers might need a 3rd team at the deadline to get dealt. He's at best a 5/6 - he was in Wpg before he signed the deal in Van.
    He has not improved since.

    Edmonton
    Las Vegas
    Los Angeles

Are all clearly better than Vancouver

Calgary will be largely improved - just by having a new coach.
(Replacing Suter vs. replacing Beadreau is not the same thing)

Expect a similar finish to where Detroit/Ottawa finished in the East last year.
they play some meaningful games into mid-late March, but fall 4-8pts short.

Doesn't always work out that way though. Questionable goaltending could unglue any of the top 3 similar to how it did in Calgary last year. Demko could carry them in if another team falters. The Central has maybe 3 good teams so the wild card slots should be open. There's enough high end talent that they could sneak in. They still seem trapped in that deranged middle ground they've been in for years.

I agree. I expect Cole, Soucy, Suter, and Blueger to help shore up the team defensive depth. Plus, a full season of Hronek and Mikheyev will help as well. Andregardless of the OEL optimism in FLA which I don't really understand, he is addition by subtraction. If Demko plays a full season and their defense is improved, the Canucks can contend for a wild card spot. It is likely that only the top 3 teams from the Central make it leaving Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, and LA, if their goalies don't produce, fighting for the 2 wild card spots.

Canucks had the worst PK in the league last year - this has to improve or ya they won't make the playoffs.
A revamped D core and centre depth is a good start.
