The difference to me is none of those other teams in the East have the same pressure on them to win in the playoffs like the Leafs do. Toronto for years now have dominated in the regular season without finding the 2nd round. Other teams have either proved they can win or are just finding their way into the playoffs after missing them for years.

I think a safe approximation is 70% of absurd positive leafs statements are made by non-Leafs fans trolling the Leafs.

I'm about 50-50 these days wanting the Leafs to win the cup to have a deep nostalgic moment back to my childhood watching games with my grandfather
and having the hockey world eat some crow and have to STFU.

A lot has to do with the 200 mic's in front of the equipment manager after every game compared to the 10 in front of Aho

I was always left wishing that guys like Salming/Sittler would win. Then that went to guys like Vaive/Derlago to win. Onto Gilmour /Clark to beat Greatky’s Kings. Fast forward to this team, easily the most talented bunch of Leafs in my lifetime, I still wish they could win. Unfortunately I am left wondering WTF just happened. As Leaf fans we are programmed to always have hope only to watch it turn into utter disappointment every post season. Pressure is very high because you play in the Mecca of hockey.

It is to the point (for me anyways) where the regular season means nothing. So this attempt by Dubas (I give him credit) feels great but also has a slight taste of desperation. Do or die. Laugh and cry.

I am really hoping Leafs fans are not expecting a 20yr old rookie is going to come in and be perform like a 26 year old Cam Neely this spring or like PK Subban for Mtl in his rookie playoffs.

At best, he should be a depth winger bringing energy & gaining experience.

Really need to temper expectations.
