What do you mean no excuse?

You think the Leafs are the best team in the league?

They are one of the best teams in the league - easily top 4 talent wise. They should be going much deeper than the usual first round exit.

Last year they can blame it on JT. This year there's no excuse. What part of that wasn't clear lol

Is we lost to a better team an excuse?

Leafs could finish with their best record in their 100+yr franchise history and not even get home ice lol. This is quite a spot to be in lol

What a fun game. It was a playoff intensity game, but open, yet tight.

Bug omg, Holl. This whole yr I've only seen negative things with this guy. He's def an NHLer, but omg.....rough yr. Whenever he does something wrong he ends up like puck watching in fear and panics so his defensive positioning disappears but he doesn't do anything. It's just sooooo..guy can't recover from a defensive mishap. His brain is like running Microsoft Explorer, it can't handle multiple things quickly. Can't wait for something to be done between Holl and Dermott. Just something.

Auston Matthews...he was already scheduled to be off today as a recovery day from the ASG (was scheduled before yesterdays game), so we likely won't know more info on his head until Wednesday. Leafs next game is in Calgary, with a game in Vancouver and Seattle after that. Next home game is Feb17th vs Pitts. Concussion and air travel don't mix sometimes. We'll see.

    Agreed with Holl.

Matthews took a knee to the back of the head sorta like Tavares in the playoffs but way less severe.

Ya, knee to the back of the head, leg kinda twisted too on the fall (could be something or nothing) and was on the ice holding his head as the play went from the Carolina zone all the way into Toronto's zone where they finally needed to blow the play dead because Matthews was still on the ice holding his head. Left the game and didn't return (minute left in regulation?) and didn't return from the concussion check for OT.

im optimistic Matthews' concussion (if he even has one) will be of the d2d variety. certainly an unfortunate hit and had there been an entire intermission + period that Auston missed then I would be more concerned. The game was over via Marner winner well before the concussion protocol wouldve been complete. Now that they have a few days off, they dont need to rush him.

He's had concussion(s) in the past.

There was 41.7s left in the 3rd when he went down. Then a 2minute stoppage between 3rd and OT. And Marner scored with 2:09 left in OT. So he had something like 5-7minutes of in protocol. It takes roughly that for players to come back. Maybe a little less. But might have just taken him out of the game based on time left in it and said "No matter if you pass you're not going out".

Keefe said an update will happen after practice (it's been going on since noon I think).
