Because they still have Kerfoot and they've been trying to trade him for a while now instead of keeping the cheaper, better player in McCann??

I thought Kerfoot really did well this yr as a LWer tho. If Toronto goes into the yr with a different 3C, I think he's a pretty solid LW2, C3(during a problem).

I think I'm the only one here who thinks that tho lol.

I'm not sure Vegas is really a winner at all. They don't get a chunk of the 650m expansion fee. They missed out on 20.97m. Haven't looked at what their protection list might look like, but if they were set to lose no one significant... that's a loss.

I agree. Didn’t really see that much from him until JT went down in the playoffs. And that was what 4 games? He’s been underwhelming at best.

I would have preferred to keep McCann over Kerfoot, but the real tradeoff here was Hallander + 7th vs Kerfoot, so it's def a win for the Leafs.

Smart move by Dubie ahead of the draft... a little too smart, Vegas was the big beneficiary

With Yzerman's comments on why Carolina traded him Nedeljkovic so cheap to him makes it easier to know why Toronto wasn't in on him, but man... Wouldn't it be nice if Toronto picked him up?

Frank Servelli has said he believes the Leafs will sign Tony DeAngelo.

I dunno about that take. I can't see DeAngelo going to a Canadian city, I don't know about him with COVID, but his Trump-ness (?) would make you think he wouldn't want to deal with the lockdown.

And Lebrun has said the Leafs haven't even offered Andersen a deal. Which is a formality I guess. They obviously know where each camp stands, just no formal deal was offered.

I don't see this at all. Leaf's were one of the teams that had Mailloux on their do not draft list. DeAngelo makes zero sense.

Ya I don't get that one at all.

Seems like Servelli is still on his expansion draft high.

Agree, basically can have this generic statement: The ___(insert team here)____will sign DeAngelo. Servelli just throwing stuff around. Who knows but I don't see it happening.

I thought the same thing. People were criticizing the move but the price for McCann from Pittsburgh was cheaper than the price to keep Kerfoot from Seattle. Either way they'd have a #3C. Now keeping Holl is a different conversation.

All they had to do was expose Kerfoot and protect McCann.

They exposed both of them. The real question is whether they should have exposed Holl or not. If they left Holl exposed (7-3) they could have kept McCann but then Toronto might have been stuck with both McCann and Kerfoot if Seattle took Holl. That would have left a hole in their top 4 and too much money tied to McCann and Kerfoot.
