That's either a bunch of amazing cap bargains or a weak group

Rielly/Ceci started to skate yesterday I do believe. So Rielly I think is supposed to be re-evaluated in a couple of weeks.

Well... These guys either learn to play together as a team

    or they're f---ed.

A few guys will finally learn what their own zone looks like

    oof.
Not going to make a difference anyways. The Leafs gave up on this year when they failed to trade for at least 2 defenceman. Now they need at least 3. Season over boys.

You sound like a Habs fan. Doom and gloom. You really think you’re not making the playoffs?

Not likely, and even if they do, it will be a quick exit. You need defence in the playoffs.

Their defence is still below par. I was surprised they couldn't add to it. When Detroit was winning cups, they would always add a defenseman at the deadline. Defensive depth is vital in the playoffs imo.

Agree that D is important but comparing the game back when Detroit won to the game now is apples and oranges. The last few cup winning teams had good D but not what I’d call stacked. Particularly the Pens. Their D was average at best. It’s all about how it comes together. The Leafs still have quite a bit going for them. You never know.

Saw this tweet and felt it needed acknowledgement re Nylander...

. William Nylander has higher points per game than:

    -Evgeny Kuznetsov
    -Ryan O'Reilly
    -Jonathan Toews
    -Matthew Tkachuk
    -Logan Couture
    -Claude Giroux
    -Tyler Seguin
    -Jakub Vorchek
    -David Krejci
    -Evander Kane
    -Matt Duchene

He also has a lower cap hit than all of them.

    He's 37th in league scoring.

And is tied with JT in points.
    1 point behind Wheeler
2 points behind Aho and Ovi
4 points behind Marner and Barkov

His scoring has not been an issue this yr. And he's about to be the quietest 30goal yr, and has an outside shot at being top 10 in goals.

It was so easy for people to shit on Nylander because of his holdout and then not delivering after signing. Those same people forgot he's actually really good at hockey.

    Couple of things:
    - Toronto didn't fold being down 3-1 after some iffy (bad) goals given up by Freddy.
    - Florida didn't but their foot on the Leafs throat
    - Leafs defense was holding the puck in the offensive zone. Kinda showed what their idea was with their "team defense".
    - After a meh first, Andersen played well.
    - Hopefully this is the stepping stone to start a roll.

When the Leafs win the Cup... Will David Ayres get his name on it?
