Interesting. I'm not sure it's gotten to that point yet but I do get what you mean because it's not like they're going to move a big piece to "shake things up". They could go the assistant coach route first...if that does happen.

Sheldon probably is. I doubt DJ would go straight to NHL head coach.

he's been an Asst for Babs for years... he was voted by the players as the most likely asst to become a head coach. The chops are there.. it's all about being given the chance. It won't shock me if he does.

Funny you mention this. I’ve recently had this same thought. I’ve been a Babcock supporter since the Leafs were trying to get him but he’s been making too many questionable coaching decisions, especially when it comes to distributing ice time. I’m hoping he is saving the big guns TOI for the playoffs but it doesn’t seem that way. Another thing is, he wasn’t Dubas’ hire. They don’t seem to see eye to eye either.

Kapanen and AJ might not be the guys that the Leafs want to trade because the players are arbitration eligible. AKA, no Nylander debacle possible.

MacKenzie was on the radio saying Dubas had preliminary talks with Kapanen and Johnsson’s agents to see where they stand in contract ideas. Apparently it went well with Kapanen but not so well with Johnsson. Take that for what you will.

well... he's outproducing Kapanen from the 3rd line. I don't think that 2yr 2.5AAV (I'm guessing, but I imagine it was in that range) offer was easy for him to swallow.

Trevor Moore "will" be called up to NHL. This is a "will" and not "has" as the Leafs want to keep him eligible to play in the AHL playoffs. He'll be called up on Tuesday likely.

Maybe the call up can technically go down after 3pm? It would be a very Toronto thing to make sure he's AHL eligible and I know it's soemthing to do with deadline day. Nylander was called up his first yr around deadline day to make sure he was eligible for AHL playoffs.

yup... they've done this ever since Shanny started... the Marlies & AHL playoffs are high importance to Management & player development

And rightfully so. The development of the players from the Marlies is going to be critical in the Leafs success considering how much they have to pay our top end guys.
