    oh my.

But no way they get Panarin. I think Elliotte Freidman said it. But I think it was just him saying it as a rental. Like the Leafs didn't call CBJ, but it was EF idea the Leafs could talk to them.

It seems to not be much of a buyers market for goaltenders, plus all teams will know they have a log-jamb so return will be minimal I suppose. That said, who knows. They have probably been shopping him for quite a while and not getting any decent bites so now we read about it to see if some interest can be churned up.

I'm assuming you mean waiver-exempt, and no he isn't. He passed through waivers before the Leafs traded for him from Vegas.

Sparks has also lost his waivers-exempt status.

I say Sparks, atleast to start the season. I don't think the Leafs would risk losing him to a waiver claim.

I say the Leafs roll with 3 Goalies to start on the NHL roster. Sparks, McEh, and Andersen.

Yikes... the good ol Josh Leivo treatment. Not good enough to play yet but too good to go through waivers. Trade them both for late round picks...They'll likely never make the team with their current development plan and if you think a team would scoop them off waivers then someone will give you a pick for them. Mack deserves to be the backup, all he did was excel in the backup role last year. He isn't the sexiest option because of Spark's #s in the AHL but at least you know Mack can produce while playing few games.

Good review of the Leafs Prospects. It's Steve Dangles Prospect Tier. It's personal preference if you like SD, but this was a good video giving you a reminder of guys like Bracco, SDA, and Durzi.

Matthews will not be wearing a letter this year. Although when asked previously about captaincy, he said he would be ready to take it over if he was asked.

Patrick Marleau, John Tavares, and Morgan Rielly will all wear a letter for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, head coach Mike Babcock told TSN's Darren Dreger.
In late August, Matthews said he would be ready to accept the Leafs' captaincy if called upon.

To be honest I like it. I remember listening to Jeff O'Neill on a radio show a year or two ago, he was saying back in his day a 20 year old kid would never hold the title of being a captain and now they're being put in leadership roles. Let the older gentlemen deal with that stuff and let Matthews mature a little bit.

I agree fully. And I agree with Babcock's decision. The media probably expected Matthews to become the C and thats probably why they asked him about it. And then when the media asks the kid and he sees other kids becoming captains, he probably thinks that it might actually happen. Just hopefully this does not effect his play.

After guys like Landeskog and Crosby were given leadership roles at such a young age that there is an expectation that these 'future stars' need to be put in that position for some reason. Babcock and the rest of Leafs management know what they're doing here +1.
