There's no way AM will sign for less than Eichel. If he does his agent should be fired. Won't happen.

Looks like another step in the Shannaplan - to establish a ECHL feeder club to the Marlies is in place

If Eichel signed for 13.33% of the cap, Matthews at a min is getting that, and with the cap at 80mill (likely) next yr, Matthews low is 10.664mill/yr (85.312mill/8yr).

I wouldn't be surprised if Matthews got an 11mill/yr deal (88mill/8yr).

At the latest insider trading, I think it was Dreger who said Matthews is probably going to be around $11.5M and Marner could potentially get the Eichel deal ($10M).

That's pretty shocking holy. If that happens they are really limiting how long they can likely keep Nylander. And shows how they view him. Like Marner drives his line like a center, Nylander is like an amazing complimentary piece I guess in their eyes.

This is why they should sign Nylander first. Get him in a good long term contract 5-6 x 6-8yrs - (mention Chara & he won't argue, he'll just sign) Then sign Matthews. I don't see Marner, a winger getting 10m, 6-8m yes, but 10, can't see it.

Marner is more valuable to the franchise than Nylander. Hopefully they'll be able to keep all 3... what a core that would be for the next 5-6 years!

    Agreed, I think Nylander gets 5yrs - 6m Marner gets 8x8 & Matthews 8xwhatever Tavares gets

first Greening, now Clune. Both have expressed a desire to resign with the Marlies rather than test Free Agency. I think it says something about the culture of the Marlies and Leafs system that the Marlies are a desirable place to play. Greening did call the Marlies the 32nd NHL franchise based on the facilities & team supports provided. How things have changed in five years.

Ryan Clowe was announced as head coach of the Newfoundland Growlers - ECHL affiliate club. Having a full second tier development team is unique in the NHL, for now.

If you can only get an AHL contract, Marlies are a solid organization with a ton of money to give out, so makes sense.

Where is EB with his contract model?

AM will get more than 10. MM will get about 8. I have no idea on Nylander.

we're not even at july 1 yet. There was just no shopping around. At least Greening you would think would give the NHL another go.

He's clearly not confident enough to bet on himself, but he knows what other AHL teams offer (being the away squad), and prolly knows he's either getting this contract with the Marlies, a contract with an AHL team, a Euro team, or a Tryout.

My guess is he has a family that's established in Toronto now. (Been in Toronto since 2016)
