A wasted season.
Babcock has to go before we lose Sheldon Keefe to an NHL team. Have a look at his ice time distribution, especially in the third period, down by 2, in Game 7. It’s almost as if he wanted to lose.
Also looked like Nylander wanted to lose so he can go back home and spend his $10M he got paid this season. Glided around like a goddamn shinny game.

Babs' one NHL cup came with a prime Lidstrom, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg on his roster, some of the best ever. After that he had two wins with Team Canada in the Olympics which, lets face it, any of the top 5 candidates could've done maybe even top 10, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt there.

The one thing I find funny and still joke about with friends was his introductory press conference where he was the coaching version of LeBron, constantly referred to himself in the third person as "Mike Babcock" and kept saying there would be a lot of pain. Who wrote that script? Vince McMahon?

I've always believed that the best coaches can work with what they're given but its almost as if Babcocks teams don't succeed without at least 2 RHD who are studs. Certainly the best coaches can't win it all with scrubs but they should be able to extract better than expected out of most of their roster.

That said, even if he was wearing his PJs the whole time I'm pretty sure Tavares outperformed the script McMahon would've written up for him so he's one of the last players to call out. For the most part they were all decent but Kadri.... didn't see him for the last 5 games. McMahon wouldn't even keep someone out of action that long for an attempted decapitation, that kind of shite boosts income too much!!!!

I personally don't think Dubas likes Babcock. Babcock was Shanny's hire. They seem awkward when in public together - as if there's unspoken tension.

Kadri isn’t getting traded. He’s on a value contract and adds great depth down the middle. I’m sure he will get a good offseason talking to.

Babcock should go but I bet he’s back next season, though I really hope I’m wrong.

The 4-1 collapse was devastating at the time but it had to happen in order for the Shanaplan scorched earth era to happen. Maybe last night had to happen in order to move on from a coach that can’t adapt to modern day NHL.

Gotta love Leafs homers - fine keep up the circus and don’t win another cup for 50 years. Babcock is one of the best coaches in the NHL, but ok, fire him... who is there to replace him? Some untested minor league bench boss? What a joke

Not to mention, this is completely a construction problem - sure the Leafs have the best offensive talent (maybe in the league) but that is not a recipe for a playoff win. All season the Leafs were horrible on Defense and could not keep the puck out of their own net. Period - that does not make for a strong playoff team.

Growing up in Detroit I remember the wings teams very well that couldn’t beat the devils; couldn’t win a cup after 62 wins - offensive powerhouses... look at the Caps until last season - perennial presidents cup winners - boy could they score regular season goals whoppee!

You ask me what the biggest thing that Lidstrom did? When he was on the ice in the playoffs you could just breath relief, as teams simply just did not score during the 22-25 minutes a game when he was on the ice. Sure, other players did/can do that too (Pronger etc). The Leafs have nothing close to this - have fun with your Paul Coffee d-men and go ahead and run a great coach out of town.
