League says you need 4 at a min, and a goalie needs to be on the taxi-squad....

Could be that they're re-instating Andersen to the team as well. Have to have a min 3 goalies combined between the taxi squad and the NHL roster, doesn't have to be one on the taxi squad.

But does seem like the team is going to bring Andersen back.

I don't think moves have to be finalized until 5pm on game day, so we might not know the final moves until tmo.

Does anyone know the taxi-squad rules in the palyoffs? Can a player on the taxi-squad be brought up to fill a non-injured players spot?

There is no taxi squad in the playoffs. Expanded rosters and no cap make it obsolete.

How expanded is it? Just out of curiosity this yr since there will be travel and no bubble, you'd assume a group of players (likely the taxi squad) is travelling with the team this yr.

That's a good question that I don't have the answer to off the top of my head.

This is what I found:

For the playoffs there is also not a roster limit. However, all the players that are part of the team have to be under one of the 50 contracts of the organization and their rights to the team have to belong to the team before the trade deadline.

So the limit is 50 players can play in the NHL playoffs, but should be interesting what teams do with players travelling with the team. I'd just assume the team just brings their Taxi-Squad guys plus maybe a rookie like Robertson if they aren't in the AHL playoffs just to get them experience around the playoffs but not actual games.

frankly id bring every single one of your 50 contracts in 'just in case'. dont want to risk any travel visa or quarantine issues if a bunch of players test positive so theyll be ready for the game day of.

The benefit of Toronto is their AHL team is right there, so I don't think they'll have any issues with players just in case, but other teams and their AHL teams might not have that luxury. I have no idea what the AHL playoff situation is, but the Marlies are 11-15-2 so I doubt they are in the playoffs which means the Leafs have really no worries about AHL players not being available for them

This left the team with "$350,000 in non-prorated Salary Pool Relief". I do believe in LTIR rules Hyman can come back for the last game of the season, I don't know if the Leafs have enough space in the cap for that though.

And Hyman, Foligno and Nash were practicing with Chucky in a grey jersey yesterday.

Chara is the only NHLer that was alive when it last happened and Thornton was born a few months after the last MTL vs Leafs series.

I thought Andersen played alright. Yet again tho, the Leafs playing in front of Andersen just look different than the Leafs playing in front of Campbell.

If Leafs had 2 games left I would give Andersen the next start, but just with 1 game left, I would say Campbell has to start it.

Good point. It’s funny how they seem very comfortable defensively in front of Campbell but seem a bit loose in front of Freddy. Oh well 1 more game to go then it’s for real.
