Kerfoot suspended 2 games. He's not Bortuzzo bad but he needs to cut out his propensity for cross-checking guys in their back. This hit was by far the most dangerous cross-check I've seen him throw though. Glad Johnson wasn't hurt.

Toronto’s Alexander Kerfoot has been suspended for two games for Boarding Colorado’s Erik Johnson.

That play happens 10 times a game, but Johnson wasn't balanced. Dumb on Kerfoot for pushing him I guess, but it happens often. 2 game suspension is a bit over kill in my eyes. But that's the bar now. Every crosscheck into someone's back that far from the boards better be a 2 game suspension the rest of the yr.

I'd be fine with that. You can literally kill somebody on a play like that.

I watch Tim and Sid and they had Jeremy Roenick on and he said it was worse than the Bortuzzo cross check and should be 10-15 games. That's overkill, way overkill.

There should be a rule that allows bear hugs or something into the boards instead of crosschecking. Maybe every ice surface needs a line going around the ice showing a "if you crosscheck here, it's dangerous". Maybe they just keep doing this suspension to eliminate the play, and it allows for easier zone exits. Every rule in the NHL the last 10yrs has made goal scoring easier, this would help out the d finally.

What cheezed me about the suspension is Marchand around the same night did the same play to a Minny player and no one batted an eye. Already the bar was not set properly.

Well some of the cool things Keefe has employed as a head coach is:
-music during practice. Creates a lighter experience, pro-player move
-lots of small groups practicing together, more tailored to player's needs
-more developmental coaches on the ice, more eyes the better?

Everyone but Tavares seems to be adjusting well to Keefe. This guys' been all but invisible in the 3 games so far.

I can't recall the last time the Leafs put together two periods like this under Babcock.

Mikheyev looks like the real deal - more ice time agrees with him. IMO - this was the most obvious thing Babcock should have done. Bump him up earlier.
Unreal how much of a difference already.

Can't wait until they learn to defend in their own zone.

I know it's vs. Detroit, but if Babcock were behind the bench the Leafs are likely grindin' away down 3-1 at this point.

..and they say players don't play to get a coach fired. They sure look like a totally different team in just 3 games. Marner must be chomping at the bit.

The whole "Leafs organization and style of play meshes with the Marlies" was a total lie to us, or we have a legit coach in Keefe who changes his ways to the team he has.

Love the fact the high dump into the neutral zone and chase it down is almost completely gone.

    Hutch starting tomorrow.
Interesting that Babcock, the old school guy, said analytics told him to start the best goalie in game 1, while it's Keefe, the progressive, saying that each back-to-back situation is different.

It's sure nice to have a new coach back there. Enthusiastic about Leafs hockey again!

This B2B is a bit different to be fair. Having the same team makes the second game more even with fatigue than in other scenarios.

Leafs have a 46.1% chance at making the playoffs, and a 2.1% chance at winning the cup based off of probabilities.

Right now the top 3 at winning the cup are:
    Boston - 12.7%
    Washington - 8.4%
    Arizona - 8.2%

So still a ways to go, and through Boston.

I do believe the Leafs probability of getting into the playoffs when Babcock was fired was like 30-35%? I could be wrong there though.
