Two guys have noticeably struggled lately - JT and Sandin. This upcoming break will be good for both of them.

Btw, for those who missed it, Matthews and Freddy did an odd "bow" in reference to the Wuhan virus after the last win. <sigh>
Small thing, sure, but enough incidents like that add up and remind me why Tavares was probably a relatively easy captain choice.

Kudos to Kyle Dubas for really pushing for people to stay at home through his twitter. He just did a Q & A mailbag feature with some fans through Kevin McGran and the Toronto Star. They didn’t filter out the criticism either. Worth the short read: https://www.thestar.com/amp/sports/b...mpression=true

Yup... he's been very active. I like it. He has a huge following and he's using his platform correctly right now

Ilya Mikheyev is fully healthy apparently.

    https://mapleleafshotstove.com/2020/...-new-contract/

Standout Leaf rookie Ilya Mikheyev is now 100% healthy, according to his agent, after a three-month recovery from the wrist laceration suffered in New Jersey on December 27. If the season and playoffs were to resume, it might be one silver lining in a terrible situation that the Souperman would be able to play a full part. Mikheyev racked up 23 points in his first 38 NHL games — fourth in rookie scoring at the time of the injury — while also impressing on the penalty kill (1:55/game).

Great to hear. that was a scary injury.
I really hope they lock him up to at least a 4yr deal.
I know we only saw him for half a season, but each game he got better and better.

“The best D-man outside of the NHL” apparently. Another solid low risk/high reward European free agent signing by Dubas.

Lehtonen has played RD for Finland in the World Championship, but he typically plays LD in the KHL.

Rielly, Muzzin, Sandin, Dermott, Lehtonen are the Leafs LD. Something is gonna give it looks like. Dermott's rights + a forward for a RHD this summer? Prolly an option that will be explored, but not a gameplan to have to target in Dubas mindset

Is it just me or did this obsession with having a RHD on the right side only start when Babcock gave that presser during the World Cup? Obviously it is ideal to have a RHD play on the right side but I’d much rather have a good LHD play the right than a mediocre RHD.

To put it in CHEL terms...I rather have an 80 LHD play Right than a 75 RHD. But a 78LHD playing right might be the cutting it close marker.

That's personally though. Didn't like Muzzin on the right side, Dermott I think played a bit last yr on the right side, but his whole yr was a rollercoaster so I don't know how to grade his performance on the right side.
