Leafs in overtime on Saturday started with Kampf, Lilijegren, Sandin. Sandin instantly took a high stick whatever. But the plan was if Toronto wins the faceoff, 1 D jumps off for a forward, if you lose the draw you play with 1F, 2D until you gain possession. This is what the Marlies did earlier in the day. Seems like an organizational tactic they are trying out. I like it, seems smart. Most OT goals are because a forward loses their player defensively somewhere on the ice to open up space

I think it's much ado about nothing and the media are blowing it up because that's what they do, especially when it involves the Leafs.

If that happened to someone like Sam Steel, we wouldn't have even known about it here in Canada.

I think there's bigger issues at play for the reffing in the NHL. But the league is kinda lucky that Bunting didn't trip when he was pushed off the ice. That could have been bad. Glad it wasn't, and nothing will come of this and it'll be forgotten next week. Maybe Dan Kelly gets a talking to in passing by his boss.

I do think it's funny that Bunting remembers playing against that ref in the AHL. It's also a "small world" that that ref got a 10game suspension for elbowing Andres Johnsson (when he was on the Marlies) like 5+years ago.

I mean nothing when I mention the above, I don't think it's a thing Dan Kelly holds vs the Leafs organization or something, just thought it was a very small world thing.

We'll likely be seeing more of that with these younger refs jumping off their NHL dreams and into reffing.
