It's pre-season but I like the hustle Knies showed against the Sens. Also, Stutzle is in mid-season form wow. But it is pre-season.

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Marner looks like it could be a fun line.

Matthews on the PK is a no. He doesn't know what to do out there last night. He should however get his feet wet to be a back up option. Maybe it was having Marner and Matthews on the same PK that was bad, but both aren't looking to block shots and kinda float too much at the top of the PK.

I do like how Gregor has played on his PTO, so I hope they can make something work.

So their cap issues seem to have just gone away again which is why you don't panic trade players in August if you're close to the cap like they were. Jarnkrok's future though will be interesting as he has been hurt this pre-season. He might be in line to lose his role.

My guess is it's Rielly because of Klingberg's pre-season being hampered with an illness. However, Klingberg offers little besides offense, so it would be a waste of talent and energy to not use him offensively.

I think he'll end up on PP1, but they might use the first week to ease him back in to build chemistry.

I agree. They will want to see if he has chemistry out there with those guys. Hard not to but as mentioned, he really offers nothing but PP offense. Sandin would’ve been a good option.

I believe the way that the legal side of it is that he's not technically retired. I read somewhere his salary as a scout is his contract transitioned to his new role. So maybe the insurance company isn't actually paying any of the deal anymore but the Leafs are, yet he'll stick on LTIR.

Cowan and McCann I think go down, Gregor gets a contract. If that happens, and Gregor signs a $1m deal, they'll then have $706,884 in space. Or, they send Cowan down, and sign Gregor for $935,000 and they get to keep McCann actually.

Bertuzzi looked like he was playing with a sledgehammer. There was at least a few times he was setup in the slot and he clunked it. Still early but he should of had a goal at the very worst. Still early.

It's the first time he's played with players where he has to be ready for a pass at ANY time. I'm sure he's just not used to that level of playmaking yet. He's got a high enough hockey IQ where I think he adjusts to that speed.
