Long past laughs too. He’s so far past his “best before” date. Just be a fan Don. You’ve rambled long enough.

For what it's worth I am, and always have been, a big Don Cherry fan. I have no issues admitting that. That being said, I cant listen to his podcasts anymore because I cant stand listening to his kids, primarily his daughter, yapping on there. I love listening to Don's storys and Tim is smart as hell, but his daughter Cindy and her voice drives me up the wall.

unconfirmed Leafs have signed 2-way forward Kirill Semyonov.

    Age 26, 6'1" 176lbs
26pts in 60 games. Previous year had 46 in 62.

Seems a potential cheap 3rd/4th line Centre. Bottom 6 competition.
Leafs miss way more than they hit with these signings so I'm not holding my breath. Anything comparable to Mikheyev I consider a big win.

I am really liking the way Galchenyuk fits with JT and Nylander. I hope Keefe keeps them together through the playoffs. That's 2 solid lines. Montreal is the perfect 1st round matchup (as it looks so far) for Campbell to get his first taste of playoff hockey. I wouldn't hesitate to start him in Game 1. But things change so who knows.

For my own sakes, I hope Matthews plays Saturday. But with the way the schedule is lined up, I can see them just not really pushing Matthews and having him play limited minutes.

May 8th vs MTL, May 12th @ Ottawa, May 14th @ Winnipeg. Travelling from Ottawa to Winnipeg just to go back to Toronto for the playoffs might be what determines the Leafs rest days.

im of the general opinion that pro athletes do not want to sit even if theyve clinched their spot as they want to stay in rhythm as the playoffs is quite literally only days away. too long a layoff, you may start to lose your edge. as such, the only game i believe he'll sit is possibly the last game against winnipeg barring some sort of nagging injury that needs to heal.

as for pushing him in the games he does play, he likely will still get 17+ mins barring a blowout. i can understand not pushing him to 22-23 mins. that being said, the leafs powerplay still isnt very good that they need to fix. they sent out their top powerplay up 3 with a couple mins left against montreal so im not concerned about any of the leafs' deployment for tomorrow.

also, can you really rule out connor putting up 10 goals in 3 games to win the rocket? hahaha. better to play auston, these guys definitely care about their trophies haha

as for galchenyuk, yes hes slotted in nicely on that second line. i thought joe thornton shouldve played there to start the season as i thought his wiley finesse will complement tavares' grinder and willie's skill nicely. looks like they needed someone slightly different in galchenyuk to work.

    Some Andersen news:
    - Will start and play a full Marlies game tmo
    - Sandin out, Hutton in. Keefe said this is Salary cap related
    - Noesen out, Brooks in.

All these moves for the 4th liners in and out could be a move to open up cap space to bring Andersen in next week.

Also with pro-athletes not wanting to sit, depends on health I would say. I think the younger guys know sitting 1 regular season game could mean the difference in the playoffs. If Matthews isn't sat, I don't think he plays 20+min. He might vs MTL tmo just as an EFF YOU to MTL and their playoff hopes.

Those move dont open up enough cap space for Anderson. It will be interesting to see how they do it short of making another trade (yes, you can still make trades) to clear out cap and even then, it would have to be a player with a decent cap hit (Kerfoot??). The time has passed for them to move players to waivers to send to the minors.

Technically Hyman can go to LTIR retroactively and I think the timing opens up the possiblity of coming back before season end, or right at the end of the regular season. Same with Bogosian.

Keefe said it was salary cap manipulation the moves of Sandin/Hutton. So there's something going on here.

    EDIT
Bogo is actually on LTIR already.

Are you still allowed to add players to LTIR at this point in the season?

    "Current Cap Space - 6.9mill"
Is this essentially how much space they have for lets say Andersen? I'm not well versed in the differences at the top of capfriendly.

I'm not being a dick, just an honest question on what the difference in "cap space" at the top of capfriendly is

I would think so if it's retroactive? It would also be dependent on how many call ups you have left too? If Hyman was hurt on Feb 14th, I don't see why they couldn't LTIR him retroactively to that date today. I don't get the purpose of a move like that, but I don't know of a rule that would stop them

Bogosian went on LTIR on April 29th, his last game was APril 20th, I'd assume it was retroactive to APril20th. Which would be 10games missed dead on

Montreal came out guns a blazing but I like the leafs composure and fight to get back in the game. After Jacks soft goal they tightened up and played well defensively. Got a little scary the last 10 seconds but Campbell was big. Interested to see the moves they do going into the playoffs. Can’t wait.
