See the problem isn't drafting them it's when the go to free agency and sign them. It's bad enough having to watch someone like Kovalchuk sign somewhere like New Jersey so the last thing I'd need to deal with is having his ****ing contract ruin my day too.
I'm certain it's an acquired taste but not a taste I'm looking to acquire.
Most leagues I'm in (including UHL) have ways around this. Both the UHL and DTDL have it so that players can be dropped without penalty during the off-season if they sign a new contract.Originally Posted by metaldude26

And as team staal are you drafting from his perspective or just general team perspective? Because I saw one earlier today where he did staal perspective and took skinner with the 1st pick, etc.
HAHAHA! My resolve is too strong to be broken on this issue. I'd love to do an auction league where we the GMs determine our own player values and have escalating salaries but that's as far as I'm willing to go with cap leagues.Love this thread

I've tried to start/been involved in a few of these and they've all turned out brutal. Always been interested in the concept though and would love to try again one day. Maybe I'll start another league haha.

I might be interested if that ever does come to fruition. I do see the potential for such a pool to be pretty volatile though.

Yea in one I was in, people would get pissed at losing a bid and then just bid a ton on the next guy out of frustration. In another, things actually turned out alright but we couldn't come to a good compromise on what would happen once contracts expired. And in another we couldn't come up with a good solution for prospects and elc's.
Yeah lots of different issues that would need to be ironed out. I think if you could get 4 or 5 really influential people to come to a solid consensus on all the rules and then fill in the rest of the league with people who agree to those rules that you'd have a great starting point.
Easier said than done of course.
