Curious what you folks have to say about Kris Knoblauch ?
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

NHL Network compiled a ranking of the top 20 Centers in the NHL, and somehow Sean Couturier was absent from the list. That is all.

So a consecutive 70+ scorer and Selkie nominee can’t crack the top 20? Sounds like a smart league site

PS. Keep the fluff up lol

I know the exact feeling. I want to click on the thread to know what’s happening. But I also don’t want to ruin my day!

    Yep ... this guy isn't a top-20 center.

Interesting; Couturier was 17th on the list last year:
    https://www.nhl.com/news/top-20-cent...19/c-299666242

(Barzal also fell off the list; and I have to think some of these guys - Kopitar, Karlsson - dropped). Should make for an interesting list. If you are talking about all-around C's, I don't know how Couturier does not make this list.

Couturier is severly underrated in most parts of the league, I feel. As a Habs fan, I would love to have him on my team. Should definitely be on the list, I believe.

I think when you consider his contract, and his ability to impact the game at an elite level both offensively and defensively, he's easily a top-10 center, probably closer to top-5.

This is a completely different ranking as I don't think the NHL article considers contract at all.

When you read the write up on Couturier missing the top 20, it's kind of funny: I think that he has actually proven himself to be one of the best centermen in the League. He drives play, kills penalties, matches up against the other teams' best lines, doesn't have to always play with a top player. We knew he was good defensively previously. We weren't sure about his offensive game, but we've discovered that the last couple of years."

Proven himself to be one of the best centermen in the league, just not quite good enough to be ranked in the top 20 lol

I've been able to watch every game aside from the 1st one, TK had looks good, aside from him this team for the most part looks brutal though. Constant icings, turnovers, giveaways. Just completely sloppy, Is this really how AV wants them to play?

There was one play with 8:40 remaining against Calgary where Hayes spun around his check and made a power move to the net but other than that I have a hard time seeing any positives and I'm not usually one to get frustrated at the team in general.

I haven't been able to watch any complete Philly games yet...only bits and pieces so far. Their schedule has been brutal to start the year.

That said, I am a bit surprised Hayes is on the top PP unit. That just makes little sense to me. Then again, I've never been a fan of his and think his contract is among the first in the entire league. Maybe the Flyers want to run him out there on the top unit to justify the salary.

    ^You are lucky, friend.

Ghost was sh!t last night, both ES and on the PP.
I'm honestly not seeing him do much positive... he had hard time bring puck up ice on PP (3:07mark below)... took a point PP shot with a teammate standing right next to him (2:37mark below) and only one decent guy available in front to grab a rebound... he's lucky he got a token plus on the Niskanen goal.

The crew was noting that PHI was 2nd in NHL with 4/10 on the PP...
What they didn't talk about was how 3 of those goals are from the PP2 unit.
Ghost now has 13min PPTOI and nary a point...
    Nary an even-strength point either...
Only 5sog in 4gp this year... not even good ones.

2:35 mark and 3:07 mark for some poor Ghosting.
He also had a penalty 30sec into a PHI PP. (10:52 of 1st... psh)
