Things are looking really good right now to get out of the round and go deep.

It's a good time to be a Flyers fan! Young stud goaltender, interesting defensive depth (and talented) and an okay group of forwards (I'm less confident after the top six). This team is good though and the defensive side of the house is being taken care of, a key component to winning in the playoffs.

Yes it is. This might turn into the second or third best group during my fandom. Time will tell, but I'm a realist and not expecting the mid 70's dominance to be repeated.

Im the same Steve. Happy, but we arent exactly world beaters. I think Carter Hart is the real deal, so it would be nice to start building around him now. As for this series against the Habs....be good if we got some production out of the top line and the power play. We will need it when we play better teams. Not taking anything away from the Habs, but we cant win the Cup without a 1st line that scores.

How great the Flyers fans must feel now that they finally have a goalie.

If Canada can send NHLers to the next Winter Olympics, does this series hold any weight whatsoever to Hart starting over Price? (And possibly Binnington)

I'd say basically no weight. Will come down to whom is playing better during the year. It does have weight helping Hart make the team, though. I wouldn't have considered him a lock, and probably still wouldn't, but he's close to one.

For me, it's having a goalie again, we haven't had a goalie I could hope on since Bobrovsky.

I doubt it this series has any bearing. Flyers scored 11 goals in the series and 6 of them went in off Habs players. I'm not saying Hart didn't play well but Price got the worse end of puck luck there. The Flyers defenders deserve some over looked credit for the amount of shots they blocked too.

I’d be willing to bet we’ve seen the best of Billington and no longer need to call him winnington. Watch Allen actually catch a starters job somewhere now and be GOOD. And StLou see the always projected to be back up caliber tender have his confidence snake bit. Proceed carefully St Louis

It's weird to have a Blues conversation in a Flyers thread, unless we're talking about the proximity of a certain bar on Moyamensing Street to the (Insert Bank Name Here) Center.

Jake Allen is NOT special. He's a pretty average NHL goalie, and has the long track record to prove it on a team that is generally defensively solid. He's had one really good year, and it was this year, when he wasn't the starter. Other than that he's had one good year, and a bunch of roughly average years.

Binnington was slightly better last year than Allen was this year, and that was when he unexpectedly took over from the prior golden boy Allen and was the starter.

Binnington will always be Winnington in St. Louis. Bernie Parent will always be the guy who it is said that "Only the Lord Saves More than Bernie" in Philadelphia.

Jordan Binnington's season this year would fit into Jake Allen's career nicely as an above average Allen season.

The Flyers had four RFAs -- Myers, Patrick, Vorobyev and Nathan Noel -- who required qualifying offers to be extended to them for the Flyers to retain exclusive NHL negotiating rights. Unsurprisingly, they sent them to the first three.

Well Flyers Faithful - what do we think about Tyson Foerster?

    Top Prospects Game MVP

Dale Hawerchuk told NHL scouts that they 'missed' on ranking this kid.

Players that have came out of Dale Hawerchuk's Barrie Colts program show a lot of promise.

    Tony Ferrari's writeup from May:

One of the best powerplay threats in the draft, Foerster has a shot that would make him one of the high-end shooters in the NHL already. His shot is dangerous from anywhere in the offensive zone but he is particularly deadly when he is able to set up in the faceoff circle and fire away. He changes the angle of his shot with subtle stick work prior to the shot and he takes shots from unorthodox positions. He has no issue firing a bomb from his off-foot on the rush or slapping a backhand one-timer. That diverse shot selection is part of what makes him dangerous at all times on the ice. His play away from the puck is a work in progress and his playmaking, while decent, doesn’t really move the needle in any major way. He will be a capable facilitator, specifically on the powerplay. Foerster will be able to thrive if put in the right position and given the ample powerplay time that his shot deserves.

Adding a sniper for the future of the Flyers PP is a great move.
Adding BPA is always sharp... but Morgan Frost (as future C1) really will need a high-end shooter for the future of PHI's Top Line.
FWIW - Frost finished high in his OHL year's as a "best playmaker".

Foerster actually finished 2nd, nearly 1st, in OHL Eastern "Most Improved Player" in 2019-20. (And losing to Jack Quinn, drafted #8 overall, is just fine!)
Frost shows up as the Western's top pick for "Smartest Player" and "Best Playmaker" in the 2017-18 poll.

So these two (+Farabee... and, let's hope: Nolan Patrick) could form the 2025 PHI PP1 unit, with Ivan Provorov (or Phil Myers).

    Thumbs up.
