No way Brian Burke is going out and getting Gostisbehere. He's not his style of player. Not to mention, it's not like Hextall doesn't know him intimately and his defensive liabilities. I dont think anyone else claims him either. If his contract expired at the end of this year maybe, but with another year at a cap hit of $4.5M, I dont see him getting claimed.

But Hextall is the one singed Ghost to the extension in 2017.
Then Ghost had 65 points in 78 games.
    Then Hextall got fired.

But you are probably right. Hextall is smarter than that.

I don't think the Penguins need another offensive D who is defensively not that great.

I do expect that he's gone soon, and if I ran a team that had cap room, I'd claim him. It's not like he's DeAngelo.

I should note that the rail fence next to my house has been partially dismantled, due to my neighbor's tree work, so if we need to run Fletcher out of town on a rail, it just got cheaper to do.

Just got a notification that the Flyers are in on Bernier ....if they stay in contention. Not really surprising I guess.

I guess they would run 3 goalies or waive Elliot to the taxi squad? I dunno what this would do for the contract/cap tho.

They could even send Hart to the taxi squad since he's on his ELC right?

You mean Hart for Bernier? No... please no!

And the Flyers, I don' think they need to add a goalie.

I think they need a solid defensive defenseman or a different defensive system.

Haha yes that's what I meant. Obviously would never happen and was just joking.

I think that deal with picks to offset it with even salary retention would make a lot of sense.

getting a rock solid RD would help more to fill that niskanen void.

The Flyers have some issues that aren't going to get cleared up this season. Guys I'd like to see moved by the deadline, that I think could happen:

Raffl, Elliott, Gustafsson - all are UFA, and aren't future pieces. Anything coming back is good, as long as the players coming in don't have worse contracts; or get signed to them by Fletcher. The latter is very possible.

Braun - has one more year left, but the amount isn't crazy expensive. The trade to get him was bad, as they gave up picks to help a team with cap issues. I doubt they can move him, but maybe they can.

Van Reimsdyk - maybe a contender wants one more goal-scorer, and while the salary is large, the term isn't too bad. Likely need to retain salary. At least the Andrew MacDonald contract comes off the books,
