Did you know that since 2012, the Flyers have consistently been inconsistent.

    2012 - playoffs
    2013 - missed the playoffs.

You can flip flop this situation every year after 2013 where they've made the playoffs one year and missed them the next. I'm betting on them making the playoffs next season.

Some interesting tidbits regarding Voracek in Friedman's latest 31 Thoughts.

I’m going to stress that this situation has been described as “not acrimonious” to me, but Philadelphia and Jakub Voracek have discussed that it might be time for a change, as well. Voracek is expected to be left unprotected for the expansion draft (and was told so), where former Flyers coach Dave Hakstol would weigh in. Should that fail, Philly will look elsewhere. There are three years left on his contract, with cash slightly lower than his cap hit of $8.25 million. Both sides are also prepared for the possibility a trade won’t occur, so he stays put. But there will be a legit attempt to move him.
Sounds like his days are numbered there. Not really surprised in a flat cap era. Not many wingers make north of $8M and those who do are probably in a better place as far as age and production.

IMO, Voracek is primed for a buyout.
This gives PHI/Fletcher good cap space room for 2021-2022 ($5.7m cap savings)...

PHI has to eat a huge $8.8m cap hit in 2022-2023... but they can at least balance this planning out with Giroux & Couturier's UFA summer in 2022.

Everything is manageable for PHI after that, with cap hits of $2.5m,$1.8m,$1.8m,$1.8m.

More than anything, I think Philly:
    1) Won't be able to trade Voracek at his current cap numbers, so
    2) Needs to get that number off their roster... otherwise he's the "relative high benchmark" that future re-signings of Giroux & Couturier agents will compare to.

If Voracek is at $8.25m... then Giroux & Couturier should both be given well more.
If PHI gets Voracek off their books... then their highest paid player is K.Hayes at $7.2m, with the JVR $7m hit disappearing after 2022-2023.

Can’t see a buyout with Jake, the dead cap space, especially in 2022-23, would be brutal.

Don’t know if a deal could be worked out to grab Tank off the Blues. Flyers would be taking on the injury risk but it would be worth it.

Of course the primary option would be paying Seattle to take him which is most likely. Fletcher will have no problem finding a way to overpay them to do so.

Flyers have some bad F contrasts but the last thing they need is Tarasenko. Jones or Hamilton should be top of the list.

Gostisbehere is GONE! Thank ****. Not without cost however. A 2nd rounder and a 7th for some cap space? Harsh but fair I guess.

i dont think itll be as tough as last offseason. worst case they move palat and/or killorn and sign a bunch of cheap/minimum guys. the ideal scenario is moving tyler johnson, but if hes your 3rd line C you could do alot worse.

i really hope flyers make the right moves after dumping ghost like that.

No way it's as hard as last off season. There's another $81.5 mil available in the system.
