Trade Green for Malkin?

Should I offer Green to the Malkin owner, who is seeking a top defenseman for Geno?

It would probably cause some cap problems for me, and seriously weaken my defense, but the chance to have Malkin and Ovechkin scoring for me night in and night out is very tempting.

I have no doubt that Malkin will pull out of his early season troubles. (essentially he already has) The question is, will Green? The Caps have been trying to play a more defensive game, Carlson is emerging as a bona-fide star on his own, and Green's numbers are way down. Has he already hit his peak as far as scoring, or will he return to previous seasons form?

very interested in any advice any one has........

i see you have DG and DA but how does that work in your scoring system. do they get 2 points to a goal while offense only gets 1 or something like that?

As an Green/Ovie owner, I'd seriously consider it. Malkin being listed as a center sucks but I'd probably agree to make that deal.

Anytime you can get one of the BIG three, I say go for it. This is intrigueing because your giving up one of the big three on D.
I still say if you can do it straight up, do it. Greens health and the changing system and the emergence of Carlson justify it for me.
The move however will force you to source another d-man. Good luck.

re: DA and DG, they are separate categories, so for example, when Malkin scores a goal, it counts in 'G' and maybe GWG and PPG as well, but if Green scores, it is a G AND a DG, plus it also could be a GWG and/or a PPG, so defensemen have their own categories, as well as contributing to all the others.

re: Malkin being a centre, we have no positional requirements, just forward and defense, so that is not a concern.

re: finding another d-man. there is nothing on the wire, I would have to trade a lesser forward than Malkin to get one. I could probably get Weber or Keith for Datsyuk from another owner, so essentially I would be trading Datsyuk / Green for Malkin / Weber or Keith. sound good?

Jeez thats closer than I thought with those cats. Green is (should be?) the best offensive D and they carry two more cats than forwards. I think I might hang onto Green.

I agree with this as well. Also have to factor in what forward you will be activating less as part of this equation.

If you can get a Keith or Weber though, it convinces me more to try and get malkin.

Thanks for the advice all, but the Malkin owner is getting cold feet, so I think my chance has passed. I'll keep asking every week or so though....
