    Default Talking Trade

Well Ive been hovering around 7th and 8th place (last 2 playoffs spots of 16team Dynasty h2h 6x4 cats with SOG league) for a while now it is painfully obvious that despite the fact I could possibly squeeze into the playoffs this team is not even close to championship material. There are definite holes - mainly between the pipes. Ive tried and tried to get a quality a Goalie but everyone wants waaaay too much(Its ridulous). Thus Ive decided to rebuild.

My first trade offer went like this - I offered J.Thornton & T.Gilbert for TJ Oshie, MPS & J.Carlson.

It was rejected and the guy countered with TJ Oshie, MPS, J.Carlson & the choice of one of these p0rospects: Drayson Bowman or mursak or Rajala
    for my D.Heatley & C.Erhoff.

Im not too hot on this offer but I think its negotiable. What do think? Suggestions on a possible counter?

Be thankful this guy didn't accept the first trade you proposed. The counter he made is asking waaaaaaay too much.

If you're gonna move a guy like Thornton or Heater, you should at least try and get an elite goalie out of it somehow, since you said that's the position that's hurting you.

In a league that activates 1 goalie, I wouldn't sweat it too much, but would keep trying to get a better goalie somehow where you don't overpay. I can see how your goalies are killing you, as you have goalies from average team (MIN) or worse (EDM, TOR), but don't get overly frustrated, as Backstrom isn't too bad an option in a league like yours.

Good luck, and maybe avoid this GM if you're going to make a deal, sounds like this guy wants a massive overpay.

    Cheers.

MolsonX said it perfectly, he's trying to rip you off bad. for heatley and ehrhoff, I'd want Ryan, Palmieri, and a goalie...

Thornton and Heatley, waht a great duo for a rebuilding team! Why do you want to give them away? Both have 4 or even 5 years of great production left, so if you really want to trade them, ask for players who are proven, but younger!

DonĀ“t make the mistake a lot of gm do, when they trade away their best players for some prospects, who might never reach their upside!

I understand where u all are coming from but the facts are I cant get a goalie. No one wants to trade a good one so I gotta get more young depth and hopefully even draft a good young Goalie. Maybe a prospect will land in my lap.

Backstrom, Gus and Khabby just dont kick it.

Here possibly the best offer I got for a Goalie. The guy offered me Halak for P,Sharp and T.Enstrom. But heck then I screw my already not the greatest offence.

absolutely, you still have Kovalchuk, Thornton, Heatley, Toews and Semin. If you really need a goalie, and i think you do, take this deal.

yeah get a good goalie, that Halak deal is pretty good I think
you should be hanging onto guys like Thornton and Heater because this is the absolute worst time to trade them, they're going to have several great seasons ahead of them, this is the time you WANT them on your team, you wanna deal them just before they start to decline

Make the Halak deal. Sharp and Enstrom replacements could be found on the waiver wire, give or take 10 points. You're not going to find a Halak there.
