Bernier or Schneider

I drafted Bernier in the late rounds and have been holding onto him in hopes of a breakout performance.

Since we only keep 5 players Bernier isn't staying with me next year. I am thinking it makes more sense to have Schneider as my bench goalie instead of Bernier (mostly in case Luongo goes down). Thoughts?

Both Bernier and Schneider find themselves in similar situations. I'd probably just stick with Bernier for now. Not sure Schneiders chance of starts is any greater than Berniers.

We set our roster weekly so unlikey to ever get in the lineup ahead of Luongo and Hillier. The 3rd goalie is largely for insurance.

Oh, oh, I missed that you had Luongo. In that case I can see it being a good insurance move. Sorry.

The insurance aspect makes me think you'd be better off with the Van handcuff. Luongo goes down (and he has some history with small injuries) and your goalie cats are screwed, as I'm sure relying on Anaheim's D to help Hiller's stats ain't gonna feel good.

As a Bernier owner, I'm praying simply that Quick will allow the Manchester Messiah to start a game.

I might be able to move Bernier to the Quick owner for a modest return but now isn't a good time. But as you've pointed out the downside if Luongo goes down is large.

If there's a forward or defender you think might be worth adding, add them instead. Neither goalie is worth rostering.

I look at it this way, if Quick goes down then you have 3 goalies in a weekly starts league - hardly needed. If Luongo goes down you are doomed.

I guess I wonder why in a weekly starts league you are carrying 2 extra D and 2 extra C? Why not pick up Schneider and keep Bernier just in case - doesn't look like you would be hurt too much in the process.

I agree I am carrying too many C's. Zajac and Weiss have been doing nothing till very recently and was playing Hanzal as he was playing OK and adding some hits (a category I've struggled in) Once Okposo or Prospal come back I'll be dropping Hanzal to make room for one of them.

I just traded Bernier for Simmonds and dropped Wolski for Schneider. Simmonds isn't scoring but does get hits and pims which has value for me especially since I'll be adding Weiss or Zajac into the lineup going forward.
