I grew tired of his inconsistency. I got Zetter for Lecav and Mason yesterday. I'm so glad I got rid of him!

I must admit, Mason stinks. I give up on the reasons. He just sucks large.
I flat out dropped him in my limited keeper league.
He is not worth it to me as he is way too inconsistent. Good Game, Horrible Game, Good Game, Good Game, Blowout, Horrible Game....

Mason could wind up being demoted to the minors, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Spin: Mason has been pulled in three of his past four starts, and 12 times since the start of last season, the most among NHL goaltenders, leaving some to wonder whether a stint in the minors might not be the best thing for him right now. Mason is in the third and final year of his entry-level contract, so he could be demoted to minor-league Springfield without having to clear waivers. "Nobody's hitting the panic button," Blue Jackets' goaltending coach Dave Rook said. "But this is a business of winning. If you're not winning, changes have to be made." For now, Mason will yield the starting duties to Mathieu Garon, starting with Saturday's game against Dallas.

Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson said the team isn't discussing sending Steve Mason to the minors.
Sending Mason to the AHL might actually not be such a bad idea. Mason has been terribly inconsistent over the past two seasons and he's struggled as much as he's shined. He has a 3.29 GAA in 20 starts in 2010-11, which is even worse than the GAA he had in 2009-10 when he endured a sophomore slump. Mason acknowledged that he's creating problems for himself, but he remains confident that he can overcome it. A demotion to the minors might help him get past his struggles over the past two seasons, but either way he should eventually become a great goaltender. However, we might be forced to settle for flashes of what he's capable of this season.
