    Default Goalie situation...WSH handcuff?

My goalies are Halak, Bobrovsky, Varlamov, and Neuvirth right now. I am somewhat worried about the Varly/Neuvirth handcuff since my 8 team league (2 Goalie starters) has weekly line up changes.

Last week, I was screwed since lineups locked and Neuvirth didn't play a single game out of 4 for WSH.

I tried to deal Neuvirth unsuccessfully in the past week or so (Varly now starts + Neuvirth injury).

I picked up Varlamov from FA and dropped Rinne because Nashville can't score enough goals to pick up wins.

Moving forward...should I keep them both, one, or none? If I drop both, I can add two of these available FA goalies:

    Rinne
Anderson (IR again...for a shorter period)
    Rask
    Pavelec
    S. Mason
    Crawford
    Elliot

I could also try to deal Varly + Neuvirth in a package, but no one in my league really needs goalies since it's only 8 teams (2 starters).

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

    That's tough.

I would almost want you to drop both and pick up Rinne and Mason.

Mason and Rinne may not get you as many wins as the other two. But they SHOULD post similar peripheral stats, and will at least be the #1 starter for their teams so you can match up favorable opponents and what not.

The problem with the tandem is that, as you found out, you will never know who will start the games. I don't think Boudreau even knows in advance. I have both, and I like it. But I'm in a daily start league. So I can switch it around day by day. If I had to start one for a week. I would be losin my mind.

It's tough to drop both...but in this case MAYBE it would be the good option since Rinne and Mason are good goalies too.

I don't see why you should be worried about the handcuff with so few teams in your league and so many viable goalies available. There's no trade value for Neuvirth in your league. I'd pick up at least Rinne and/or Pavelec and rid yourself of the headache. It's not worth dealing with in a league with weekly changes.

Thanks for the input, guys. I decided drop Neuvirth for Rinne...and hesitated to drop Varly for Pavelec, but I did.

I figure this time next week there's a good chance I can pick up either one of them as an FA (or S. Mason) if these moves backfire.
