From one of the guys on Winged Wheel Podcast.

As of this moment my best guess for opening night is:

    Bert-Larks-Raymond
    Vrana-Copp-Perron
    Kubalik-Suter-Zadina
    Ras-Veleno-Sundqvist

    Maatta-Seider
    Chiarot-Hronek
    Walman-Lindstrom

    Husso
    Ned

    Statches: Erne, Smith, Oesterle

    Fabbri-IR

Steve has a lot of depth to explore trades

This makes me feel a bit better about things.

For what it's worth, every one of Yzerman's major UFA signings today all came in *under* the predicted AAV by @EvolvingHockey's model.

Term was as predicted (Chiarot, Kubalik) or shorter (Perron, Maatta) with the exception of Copp (5 years, 4 predicted).

    Good cap value. #LGRW

Yeah I'm happy with the value Stevie got for sure - that's a solid way to spend $20m... and the term on the deals is perfect (not likely to affect long-term deals for core guys moving forward).

Biggest want was for a top 4 LHD man... I guess Chiarot is that but he doesn't move my needle. I'm sure he'll be a solid pro for the kids to learn from though.

Perron is fine - will add some talent to the top 6 and hopefully be a piece we can move for assets to a contender in 1.5 years.

Kubalik's a great gamble. May indeed turn out to not be much but basically zero risk and decent upside plus it lengthens the lineup a bit.

Copp is a tremendous add imo. Was chatting with a buddy (another RW fan) and we both see how Yzerman's building a "tough to play against/work ethic" identity here - exactly in line with what Larkin and Mo bring, and what Kasper is known for.

Watching the Atlantic load up today and I'm glad the Wings will at least make teams earn their wins next year.

I like the Perron deal because it's only 2 years. When we were waiting on the term I assumed 3 or God forbid 4. But 2 is perfect to make him a great trade candidate.

I'm expecting that one of Bertuzzi, Zadina or Hronek are dealt this offseason.

Now would be the time to move Bertuzzi.

Trading Hronek would be a terrible idea. He’s exactly the sort of 2nd pair guy that makes a great team. Based on what they bring I’d trade Zadina of that group. Do you really think they have to trade someone? This group needs some time together.

A lot of contracts to sign after this season for Detroit. Just based on that alone I'd say someone is going to not get an offer.
I agree, Zadina seems like the odd one out of those three.

I don't think they have to but they just have a lot of bodies. Bertuzzi's value is at an all time high so he would be my choice.

So I keep seeing Detroit mentioned (along with Ottawa and Seattle) as a potential destination for Klingberg. What I'm wondering is, can someone explain how that would make sense for the roster? Already have three >20 min guys in Seider, Hronek and Chiarot. And two of those guys are righties. I'm just confused why Detroit would be at all speculated as a landing spot for Klingberg....

Jeff Marek thinks it. I'm not really sure why either but also wouldn't be surprised to see Hronek moved.

Soderblom made it... For now. I'm shocked.

    - D. Sebrango

I'm surprised Edvinsson got sent down but time in the AHL won't hurt his development.

I'll be cheering for Elmer. I been holding him in a few keeper leagues, waiting for his arrival.

    Söderblom Rasmussen Sundqvist

Geez, Sundqvist at 6'4" is bringing down the average height of that line.
