Detroit is really doing a number on their draft lottery chances.

Last year they did the same thing, they went on a winning streak to close the season out. Then got bad luck in the lottery draw.
But this year, same thing, going on a little mini win streak to close the year out.

I know. It's pretty annoying. Just hope Vancouver can at least get past them this year.

No word on Blashill since end of season. I am curious to think that maybe Stevie is working in the background on maybe getting his old linemate Gerard Gallant on board and if so, they make a move to fire Blash and bring in Gallant.

Gallant is interviewing for the NYR job as well.

I remember being so disappointed when Detroit missed out on Parise and Suter in 2012. They took a huge swing to try to keep the streak alive with Lidstrom retiring and it didn't work out.

Even after this buyout I still kind of wish they had landed the two stars. 2013 was the year they blew a 3-1 lead against Chicago so I'd like to think that having Parise and Suter in their prime would have helped them there. Then maybe they could have had another small run before the two became hopeful trade chips? Although I guess Detroit would have had to pony up NMCs to get them at the time so maybe that wouldn't be possible.

    Anyways... Fun to look back.
