I heard Fiala is asking for even more. I don’t understand these tweeners, who are showing signs of putting up big seasons but haven’t quite got there yet, asking for the big dollars. If Vrana thinks he’s that good he should negotiate a two year team friendly deal and then cash in as a UFA.

Yikes. Well, that's usually how it goes in negotiations and sometimes they try and meet somewhere in the middle.

Like this deal for the Wings - especially term - and fine with the AAV.

Vrana's been a 5-on-5 darling for years... here's the window to prove that fully translates with ice time and PP1 duties.

If it does, cool, and he'll get paid accordingly in 3 years. If not, DET isn't hamstrung by a long-term deal they need to pay to move... with the added bonus of seeing where the team is "really" at in 3 years.

I'm betting he 'hits', and would have been fine with a big 8-year pact, but we trust in the Yzerplan and this is a great risk/reward bridge imo.

With the #Red Wings settling their Arb case with Adam Erne 4 days ago, the club had access to a second buyout window.

As a result, Detroit has opted to buyout 37 year old forward Frans Nielsen.

Buyout Breakdown:
2021-22: $4,250,000
2022-23: $500,000
