I was going to weigh in on Oiler goaltending but then I realized that the team is 5-1 and only 6 games into the season....

Yeah, nice to see him bounceback. He just can't play like that consistently enough.

Also, Bourgault had 5 points last night and leads the league in points. Looking (early on) like a real nice pick for the team.

Another solid game from Koskinen. Talk of the Oilers needing to make a move for a goalie is gone pretty quiet now.

I don't know. We're still early. I am holding my breath with every start in this regards, but hoping for the best.

Man people don’t seem to believe in past performance being a key indicator of présent success. Koskinen never has, and never will be, a quality starting goalie in this league, despite stretches of decent play.

Of course it's still early but its hard not to be happy with what he's brought with Smith out. As I say, it's calmed the "we need a goalie" talk.

Very few weak spots for the team so far. The only complaint had been Yamo and he had a nice goal yesterday.

McDavid and Leon are obviously amazing,
Puli, RNH, Hyman have been excellent.
Defence has not been great (Oilers outshoot almost every game).
Both goaltenders have been outstanding outside half a game for Smith and Flyers game (only loss) for Koskinen.

    Hard to complain at 7-1-0.
I keep hearing rumors about Oilers trying to get Fleury out of Chicago, it would only make sense if Chicago is eating salary ($7 mil total) and/or taking a goalie back.

Koskinen will always be a bear with a glove in net. We don't know why it works, but it works. And when it doesn't work you have no one else to blame than who put the bear in that situation.

Ya. Koskinen is goofy for me. On paper, his stats look good so far this year. But every time I watch him, he just looks super uncomfortable and doesn't look like a quality goalie. He has a tendency to let in really soft goals. I feel like he stumbles ass-backwards into saves that he has no business saving. He is clearly playing above his ability right now. Is Mike Smith back soon?

I'm fine with him playing above his ability. They still add up to W's no matter how ugly it looks. Its not HOW he makes the saves, it's that he IS making the saves and hes making lots of them at key times in Smiths absence.

Keep making those ugly saves Koskinen!
