These cuts are pretty standard for a Ken Holland team. Leave the youngsters in the minors to force their way up or pinch hit for injuries.

Was hoping for Marody to stick around as he has a bit of upside and is getting near time to shit or get off the pot with him. Patrick Russell appears to be the one AHLer who may survive all the bottom-tier vet signings from this summer.

Evan Bouchard, Ethan Bear and Joel Persson remain in the mix on D, as does BRANDON MANNING! There's potentially room for a few of these guys to stick around with Kris Russell battling a conky.

Persson seems to have the leg up, pairing frequently with Klefbom.

Bouchard's getting a long look but I think he still winds up in the AHL, as per Holland's track record.

Had a lot of hope for Jones after last season's showing, but apparently he has not had a good camp. That's fine, go back to the AHL and be a #1. He can still force his way into the mix later in the year.

Whats the realistic wait on Marody do you think? Upside? Is he a shoot first player ala marchessault?

Last question- lol!! What is Nygards reaklistic upside? max upside?

I'm just wishfully hoping someone takes those salaries off their hands. Also, some waivers claims on Ho-Sang, and a few other scoring wingers by the Oilers would be nice.

If Draisaitl is a center, you could argue there were three+ wingers on waivers yesterday that are better than anything Edmonton currently has. Giving too many contracts to bad players prevented Edmonton from making any waiver claims (both cap and contract space). In terms of “character/attitude”, well Edmonton doesn’t have nearly enough skill to pass on players like Ho-Sang or Sprong because they have “character” problems.

Tippett is just testing out a few things in practice as the season is about to begin. It's quite likely that Draisaitl spends a lot of time on McDavid's wing throughout the season.
