I was pretty optimistic about the Oilers making the playoffs about a month ago but looking at the standings today I dont see it.
You need about 95 points to make the playoffs, right?
Oilers got 37 in 39 games. So they need about 60 points in the next 43 games. 30 wins in 43 games. The league is way too tight for that. Not to mention all the teams they have e to leap frog.
IF Edmonton does make the playoffs they would have to be considered stanley cup favorites. I'd rather they bet they win the cup than make the playoffs!

Remember how good things were looking for Canadian teams last season? Montreal, Calgary and Toronto made the playoffs. Edmonton advanced to the 2nd round. Ottawa advanced to the 3rd round. All teams were on their way to better things.
Now it looks like Montreal, Ottawa and Edmonton will be lottery teams (along with Vancouver). Toronto is hanging in there, and Calgary's on the bubble once again. Well, at least Winnipeg is doing well.
I'm pretty sure Edmonton ends up winning the Dahlin lottery now.
