He's on most teams radar, but to take him that early is a big ole gamble. It's rare that a goalie goes that early these days so if he does, that says A LOT about him and how they feel about him, long term.

So they gave up 16 and 33 for Reinhart but they couldn't cough up a little more to scoop Calgary for Hamilton? Or get someone more proven? I don't hate it but I've never loved Griffin.

Not to mention, one has to wonder what the Oilers have planned for a goalie now. I know they were horny for Talbot but after moving the 33rd pick for Reinhart, I wonder if they changed their tune on Talbot.

I think Niemi would be good for EDM. He would solidify their defensive game. That's would be the first step in the right direction.

Nurse was the sticking point from what I've heard. They didn't want to move Nurse for Hamilton. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I get the reluctance.

No question in my mind that Edmonton decided to move on from Talbot, Reimer, Bernier, Lehner, Anderson, etc. at the same time that they are officially allowed t speak to Free Agents. I'm sure Niemi has already agreed to a deal with the Oilers, coupled with the ludicrous asking price for Talbot, Lehner, etc.

To make it personal in sticking it to Chiarelli and Oilers and trade Hamilton to an arch rival? Oilers reportedly offered a slightly better package of picks than what Calgary gave up, so the speculation is rampant now why Nurse had to be a major piece and why Calgary seemingly never had to part with an actual player.
