I told Klef that I’d talk to him as we got into June and July to see how he was doing,” he said. “Obviously I have to make decisions about our team heading into the expansion draft and who we protect and also about free agency as to whether he’s thinking about playing next year or not.”

From the sounds of it, we're months away from really knowing much more about his situation.

There's no doubt that Lavoie has a lot more runway to develop into a more impactful player. I wouldn't expect to see any of Benson/McLeod/Marody playing a top-6 role. McLeod, at this stage, probably has the best chance. Five years from now, Lavoie may be the only one with fantasy relevance, but those three are seasoned pros, so they'll be getting the first crack at call ups.

That was one of the worst officiated games I have ever watched and I have been watching NHL hockey for 40 years. It was so bad, I turned the game off multiple times.

The penalty on Armia for tripping 2 seconds after he was tripped by Puljujarvi.
The tripping penalties on both Mike Smith and Jake Allen.
Mcdavid's roughing on Perry. If that was going to be called, then Perry should have been called for embellishment as well.
Draisaitl's "interference" when he hit Edmundson as Edmundson was rimming the puck.

And I have not listed any of the non-calls.

The officiating made that game almost unwatchable.

I came here to see if anyone had commented on the officiating. I hate ragging on the refs. It's a tough job and they are never going to get it right all the time. Having officiated games myself, it feels crappy missing calls, or getting screamed at by people.

But that was atrocious. One of the worst I have seen in a very long time. I can think of some agregious calls, but nothing that was as consistently bad as last night.

Sorry to anyone facing McDavid this week. You had a good year but it's over now.

I lost in the quarterfinals to metaldude two weeks ago when McDavid only had one game due to the Canucks Covid outbreak.

Ya that is unfortunate. Pretty sure he only played twice last week but if you made it through hoooo boy.
