Huh? He had 37 points in 53 career AHL games. How is that good enough to have a consistent top 6 NHL spot? Dude should be making his NHL main roster debut this season after 3 straight seasons down there with a handful of cups of coffee.

Yeah I'm face palming the subject of the false narrative that McDavid is better off anywhere else (ie Maple Leafs) than Edmonton.

Good article on a few levels. What the G&M fails to recognize is that McDavid has always been serious and focused in interviews. He's Toews not Kane. If (God forbid, lol) the Oilers ever win the cup, he'll be the same way while Champaign is being poured over his head and his team mates are whopping it up in the background.

reminds me of Crosby that way...very reserved for the most part. I think it is part of the way these kids are raised and groomed from such a young age to deal with the media attention/pressure and come across as humble, quiet, mature, etc.

    Edmonton Oilers✔@EdmontonOilers

The #Oilers have assigned the following players to the @Condors:

    • Tyler Benson
    • Cameron Hebig
    • Caleb Jones
    • Kirill Maksimov
    • Cooper Marody
    • Ryan McLeod
    • Anthony Peluso
    • Dmitri Samorukov
    • Dylan Wells

The #Oilers have also placed the following players on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the @Condors:

    • Josh Currie
    • Joseph Gambardella
    • Keegan Lowe
    • Brad Malone

There are now 33 players remaining at Training Camp – 3 goaltenders, 11 defencemen & 19 forwards.
Marody was probably the only Oiler who had a decent night yesterday from the little I saw and what I've read. I'm surprised he was cut this early. Caleb Jones being cut is pretty disappointing, he did not look like the Caleb Jones from last season. I would've liked to see Maksimov get a game in as well but I guess he's just nowhere near ready yet.

These cuts are pretty standard for a Ken Holland team. Leave the youngsters in the minors to force their way up or pinch hit for injuries.

Was hoping for Marody to stick around as he has a bit of upside and is getting near time to shit or get off the pot with him. Patrick Russell appears to be the one AHLer who may survive all the bottom-tier vet signings from this summer.

Evan Bouchard, Ethan Bear and Joel Persson remain in the mix on D, as does BRANDON MANNING! There's potentially room for a few of these guys to stick around with Kris Russell battling a conky.

Persson seems to have the leg up, pairing frequently with Klefbom.

Bouchard's getting a long look but I think he still winds up in the AHL, as per Holland's track record.

Had a lot of hope for Jones after last season's showing, but apparently he has not had a good camp. That's fine, go back to the AHL and be a #1. He can still force his way into the mix later in the year.

Did anyone catch last nights game? Sounds like Burdasov played impressively and Nygard had a goal and 5 shots with only 14 minutes of ice time but apparently took a skate to his face? I guess Sam Gagner remembered it's his contract year as well, 1 goal and two assists with 4 shots.

I’m a little surprised by Benson being sent down. I know it wasn’t a lock but thought some earlier summer talk of him potentially being top6. Or more likely 3rd line

So all I'm reading/hearing is how Bouchard is tearing up scrimmages. Is Persson still lookingime the favorite to win the slot out of camp. If he does can we bank on 30 points??

I think Bouchard starts in the minors still. Unless Persson really blows a tire in the last week of camp, he will be with klefbom to start the year.

Doesn’t mean he will be there all year. I can easily see Bouchard being called up by American thanksgiving. Or see Persson sticking all year

I believe Nurse will be the man this year. Klefbom may start out getting some time. But their power play will be better off with Nurse running it

Klefbom will be on PP1 to start the season. There's a chance he's replaced by one of Joel Persson or Evan Bouchard later in the year but I doubt it. Nurse will see way less PP time this year as he's not a PP type of guy. Nurse lacks the ability to pass the puck to play on the PP. He's very good at skating the puck out of his own end but he is not a great distributor of the puck.
